Watch News

A few days ago, we attended a special Souhour hosted by Franck Muller Middle East specially for the AWGCLub members in Dubai. The Souhour took place in the newly opened St Regis Polo Club in Dubai. We had the entire Cigar Lounge set up and booked for us for a delightful evening exploring the novelties from Franck Muller and what is coming next for 2018.

That day I was wearing my FM Totally Crazy Hour in Rose Gold fitted with a flashy orange strap to match my ensemble :).. Really fascinating movement and mesmerizing to watch the hours jump from one side to the other to reach its correct number; same for the date on the inner disk on the dial. The idea behind the crazy hours display is to break all traditional norms of watch dials hours display that has never been explored before.

As the night kicked off, all the collectors started reaching the venue; we were about 21 hand picked collectors for the event that was hosted by the Franck Muller GM in the region and his team explaining the values and traditions of the brand since its establishment in 1991.

As we all know , Franck Muller is known for its “Master of Complications” status and it was only fair for us to explore all their latest releases spanning from the Gravity Skeleton Tourbillon to the Giga Tourbillon and the new Vanguard 7 Days skeleton. Most of the pieces that were presented to us were just amazing. I can see the brand putting a lot of effort in regaining their positioning in the market and the region.

The watch that amazed most collectors was the ultra light Gravity skeleton with its rough and sporty look yet extremely light and wearable. The open worked dial showcasing the Tourbillon is perfectly finished and executed. However, another star of the night was the Vanguard UAE edition “Proud to be Emirati”, especially in forged carbon. That watch is a perfect fit for a strong man look with an edge.

At the end of the night, the entire crew had already picked one or two favorites from the vast collection of the brand. There was a lot of varieties from each model in terms of case material, colors, straps… an large impressive line up that should potentially fit any taste out there. A mega team wristshot was in the making and of course a night like this cannot end without it.

We had a great night and a great line up of watches to feed our passion and thirst for innovation in watchmaking. Stay tuned for more AWGClub events with more brands and special projects.
