From its establishment in 1891, the name Angelus has been synonymous with the chiming of a bell. A ringing that has resonated throughout history, marking time in towns and villages long before personal timepieces were invented. Almost exactly 130 years ago, on 15 April 1896, the brothers Albert and Gustav Stolz filed one of the Maison’s first patents for ‘a silent strike governor for repeater mechanisms’. Since then, repeater mechanisms have always been at the heart of Angelus collections.

Putting this technical philosophy to meaningful use, Angelus designed Braille- repeating watches for soldiers blinded during the First World War. They indicated time using sound or touch through hour markers paired with Braille markers – an approach to watchmaking in which technology was fully dedicated to functionality.

Angelus went on to direct its research to other complications and patented several major inventions, including the famous Chronodate in 1942. In the 1950s, Angelus returned to repeater mechanisms, filing a patent for ‘a striking wristwatch’ in 1958. This was immediately followed by the Tinkler, equipped with this patented movement and considered a pioneer of water-resistant, self-winding quarter-repeater watches.

An original tribute
Inspired by this glorious history, Angelus is today reissuing one of its rarest, most refined models: the Tinkler, based on the original 1958 edition. The gold version is limited to 15 pieces, while the steel version is limited to 25.

The 38-mm case charms with a decidedly 1950s aesthetic – clean, understated and elegant. At 9 o’clock, the crown is balanced by a pusher that activates the quarter repeater, a functional and historical hallmark of the model. The screw-down case back bears the ‘A’ monogram, a discrete yet distinct reminder of the Maison’s identity.

The subtly domed white sunburst dial features the hour markers characteristic of the original piece. At noon, the modernist-style numeral 12 underscores the watch’s character, while at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock – key positions for the quarter repeater – distinctive, exclamation-shaped hour markers appear. Complex and delicate, with a gilded finish, these dial elements complete a faithful tribute to the heritage of Angelus.

The Tinkler 1958 comes on an alligator flank leather strap, an original choice that further enhances the watch’s vintage and idiosyncratic character. The leather is a deep ink blue for the 18-carat gold version and a warm saddle brown for the steel model. The pin buckle, matching the case, comes in gold or stainless steel.

Precision, striking, refinement
The Tinkler 1958 edition is driven by the new Angelus A600 calibre. On request, by pressing the pusher at 9 o’clock, it strikes the hours and the quarters. Each hour is marked by a clear strike on the first gong. If necessary, the calibre then performs a double strike on two gongs to signal each quarter hour, up to a maximum of three sequences. True to its heritage as a maker of measuring instruments, Angelus takes an acoustic approach that is both distinctive and accessible. The Tinkler collection features clear, precise, striking

The Angelus A600 self-winding mechanical calibre beats at 4 Hz and offers a 70-hour power reserve. Its finishing demonstrates the watchmaker’s attention to detail: snail-finished main plate, palladium-plated bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève with polished angles, rimmed wheels, blued and chamfered screws with mirror-polished heads, and a tungsten sunburst oscillating weight.

For this limited edition of 25 pieces, Angelus presents a vibrant creation where skeletonised mechanics become a canvas for colour and graphic expression. The satin finish titanium case confronts the deep black of the movement, brought to life by vivid orange accents that highlight the time displays and are echoed on the three interchangeable straps offered. The whole is a symphony of powerful contrasts, enhanced by the three-dimensional beauty of an openwork calibre designed as an interplay of interlocking circles.

A fusion of energies

Every detail of this 42.5 mm timekeeper expresses a facet of the energy that animates it. Chromatic energy, with orange as the signature colour. Customisable energy, with interchangeable straps: black alligator leather for elegance, textured orange rubber for sport or integrated titanium for architectural continuity. Light energy, revealed by the skeletonised movement. Structural energy, in the layering of levels and depths. And finally, graphic energy, embodied by the three-dimensional architecture of the A-310 calibre.

Energy in harmony
The Flying Tourbillon Skeleton Titanium dial showcases a masterful interplay of volumes. An orange peripheral minute track floats above a black flange adorned with hour markers crafted for the first time by Angelus in monolithic blocks of Super-LumiNova. These luminous markers guarantee optimal readability, even in the dark, and accentuate the contemporary design.
The contrast of colours and materials intensifies with the three straps proposed. The quick-release system provides a smooth transition between elegance, sport and a complete technical aesthetic, offering the wearer true freedom of style.

Energy in the details
The case’s construction demonstrates the watchmaker’s technical savoir-faire. At its heart is a carbon composite case chamber, exceptionally light yet remarkably rigid, ensuring optimal protection for the movement. Encasing this technical core, a modular titanium outer cage enhances stability while emphasising the sophisticated mechanical aesthetic.

Within the A-310 calibre, Angelus’s signature wheels – each with three openwork double spokes –create an optical choreography leading to the flying tourbillon. Suspended without an upper bridge, the tourbillon is supported by a bridge angled at 160°. This intentional asymmetry accentuates the visual tension and dynamic balance. As for the retaining screws, they feature the three-blade propeller design – a distinctive stylistic hallmark of the Maison.

Gear train energy

The calibre of the Flying Tourbillon Skeleton Titanium, housed at the heart of the timepiece, is an advanced interpretation of the flying tourbillon skeleton. Designed with a three-dimensional structure, it combines an openwork main plate with lightweight circular bridges to maximise transparency, rigidity and precision. At 1 o’clock, a large-diameter barrel ensures a stable distribution of energy, balancing the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, which completes a rotation every minute.
Oscillating at a frequency of 4 Hz, the movement offers a 60-hour power reserve, guaranteeing performance and endurance in a skeletonised format that optimises space.

L.A.B, the Angelus manifesto
The Flying Tourbillon Skeleton Titanium, Orange Edition fully embodies the watchmaking philosophy of Angelus L.A.B. – Legacy and Beyond. A real innovation statement, this collection combines high-level technical mastery, bold architecture and clean design to transform mechanics into contemporary artwork.

This year, Angelus is releasing the Chronographe Télémètre as a limited edition of two sets of 25 steel timepieces and a further 15 in 18-carat yellow gold. Measuring 37 mm in diameter, with a vintage-inspired dial and a mono-pusher set into the winding crown, this short-interval timekeeping instrument contains countless tributes to Angelus’ rich history and particularly its speciality in crafting chronographs. Its noble hand-wound mechanism, historical roots and superior finishes give this chronograph a wildly elegant retro aesthetic.

After the Instrument de Vitesse and the Chronographe Médical, the La Fabrique collection welcomes a new masterpiece that recalls the functional and aesthetic history of Angelus. Founded in 1891 in Le Locle by the Stolz brothers, Angelus quickly specialised in alarm clocks, minute repeaters and, above all, chronographs. One of its iconic models already inspired the revival of the Chronodate collection 80 years later.

Distance and time
A telemeter is one of the measurement scales that are linked to a chronograph’s sweep seconds, a category that also includes pulsometers, tachymeters, decimal scales, fixed or rotating countdown scales, and asthmometers, a speciality of Angelus. Telemeters are used to measure the distance of an event. The chronograph is started when the event is seen, then stopped when it is heard. The scale is finely graduated in kilometres and corresponds to the duration divided by the speed of sound (approximately 1,240 km/h).

Body and face
With a diameter of 37 mm, the Chronographe Télémètre is the smallest contemporary Angelus model. The case middle presents characteristic curves that run from lug to lug. The polished edges, plunging at the top and twisted on the flanks, highlight the complex shape of the lugs. These dynamic details contribute to the characteristic vintage signature of the timepieces in the La Fabrique collection.

The dials are available in three colours: a rose that borders on bronze, a titanium grey and for the yellow gold timepiece, a white that evokes the subtle shine of nickel. The satin-finished flange echoes the finish of the case and contrasts with the grained effect in the centre of the dials. These finishes are illuminated by a delicate diamond-polished thread that separates the two areas. The small seconds and 30-minute totaliser counters are snailed, while the appliqué hour-markers and Arabic numerals have been given either a black treatment or a 3N gold finish.

Heart and soul
The Chronographe Télémètre is powered by the in-house A5000 calibre. This chronograph movement, with an integrated mono-pusher, presents a two-tone finish: the elements of the mainplate and the bridges are golden-finished, while the components of the chronograph function are finished in palladium. The overall effect is completed by pronounced bevelling and stretching.

With its hand-wound movement and a 42-hour power reserve, a small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute totaliser at 3 o’clock, the A5000 calibre is an extremely flexible technical cornerstone for Angelus. It has a slim profile of 4.20 mm and a diameter of 24 mm (10½ lignes), making it the perfect match for the 37 mm case of the Chronographe Télémètre. Last but not least, its regulating group oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and the chronograph function is controlled by a column wheel with a horizontal clutch, just as it was in chronographs produced between the 1940s and the early 1970s.

Matt and refined with vintage style: Instrument de Vitesse presents the purest expression of a chronograph, with no sub-counters. The collection sets the tone with its Indianapolis blue and Silverstone grey dials. Its finely printed tachymeter scale is dedicated to speed and is as functional as a dashboard instrument.

Things are not always what they seem. At first glance, Instrument de Vitesse could be a highly refined three-hand watch. Only its discreet tachymeter scale, printed on the edge of the dial, and its name point us in the right direction: this is a chronograph designed for short bursts, an instrument for measuring average speed over a maximum period of 60 seconds. The purpose of the button on the crown thus becomes clear: a single push-piece that triggers the slender direct-drive central seconds hand.

Velvety smooth
The La Fabrique family of timepieces, dedicated to reinterpreting historical Angelus classics, presents this chronograph in two editions each limited to 25 timepieces. Following ebony and ivory dials, Instrument de Vitesse showcases two essential colours in the watchmaking palette, named in reference to its tachymeter function: Indianapolis blue and Silverstone grey.

These two editions come with a tone-on-tone nubuck strap in the same colour as the dial.

Easy to read
Instrument de Vitesse is housed in a 39 mm diameter steel case measuring just 9.27 mm thick. It features a dial divided into two functional zones. The first, peripheral zone presents the tachymeter scale, graduated from 60 to 500 (km/h) with a base metric of 1,000 (typically one kilometre). The second, immediately adjacent zone is dedicated to the time display, with a graduated minutes circle. The typefaces are fine, in elegant cursive, and the colours have just the right amount of contrast to make them easy to read.

Manufacture movement
Inside Instrument de Vitesse, Angelus operates its own chronograph movement. The A5000 calibre is entirely produced by Manufacture La Joux-Perret, Angelus’ sister company. Presented in this manually wound version without totalisers, the movement offers a reduced thickness of just 4.20 mm. Set to a frequency of 3 Hz, it functions by way of a column wheel and horizontal clutch, like a chronograph from the 1950s.

Instrument de Vitesse, a new opus in the La Fabrique collection, revives the golden age of timed races. This mono-pusher chronograph seems to have been plucked from the dashboard of a vintage GT car. It is equipped with a single timing hand – the centre seconds hand – and can time a maximum of one minute. With its sleek and refined retro sports look, Instrument de Vitesse is intended for enthusiasts of watchmaking history and culture. Housed in a 39-mm steel case, its 4.20 mm manually wound Manufacture calibre ensures that the finished timepiece is less than 10 mm thick. Instrument de Vitesse is available with an ivory-white or ebony-black dial in two limited series of 25 timepieces each.

Appearances can sometimes be deceptive. At first glance, Instrument de Vitesse does not appear to be a classic chronograph. With its three central hands, it looks like a watch… with three hands, but the tachymeter scale running around the outer edge of the dial reveals its chronometric function. For this is a chronograph presented in its purest expression, dedicated to timing short bursts – a measuring instrument designed to take average speed readings over a maximum of 60 seconds. This, in turn, casts new light on the crown, which also acts as the chronograph’s single push-piece to set the slender centre seconds hand in motion.

Historical
Dedicated to the renaissance and reinterpretation of classic timepieces from Angelus’ past, the La Fabrique collection unveils its second model, following in the footsteps of the Chronographe Médical. Once again, the house draws on its aesthetic heritage and showcases historical design elements and affinities. As a result, Angelus has designed a chronograph that seems to belong on the dashboard of a beautiful English or Italian vintage car, with the roar of a V12 engine as its soundscape.

Graphic
Released in two series of 25 timepieces, Instrument de Vitesse is available with a steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and just 9.27 mm thick. It features a domed dial divided into two functional zones. The peripheral indications are dedicated to the tachymeter scale, graduated from 60 to 500 with a base metric of 1,000 (typically one kilometre). The more central indications, meanwhile, are designed to display the time, with a finely graduated minutes circle. In both cases, the typography – specially chosen for the La Fabrique collection – is clear, contrasting and elegant.

Contrasting
Instrument de Vitesse is available in two versions. The first, on a caramel calfskin strap, features an ebony-black dial with rhodium-plated applied Arabic numerals that stand out with their striking white hue. The second version is presented on a midnight-blue nubuck strap. Its ivory-white dial is punctuated with applied Arabic numerals outlined in black to create an incredible three-dimensional effect. The hour and minute hands, together with the applied numerals, are coated with luminescent material.

Mechanics
Inside, Angelus operates its own A5000 chronograph movement. With this new variant, this calibre – the technical stalwart of La Fabrique – once again demonstrates its adaptability. Presented in this manually wound version without totalisers, it offers a reduced thickness of just 4.20 mm. Set to a frequency of 3 Hz, it functions by way of a column wheel and horizontal clutch in the pure chronograph tradition.

Today, we are celebrating a new achievement for the Arab Watch Club with our 10th release since our inception.

It has been an amazing journey since we started in 2015 and today we hit the 10th edition mark – the club with the most special editions to-date. For this release we have decided to collaborate with a very special brand that has been quiet forgotten for sometime and revived few years ago.

Of course, I am talking about Angelus watches and more specifically the U50 Diver Tourbillon they released in Baselworld 2018. It was whilst we were visiting their booth this March , that we discovered the beautifully executed diver watch model and decided that this should be our next edition; first it’s our first TOurbillon, and also first Diver. Great way to end 2018!!

What is exactly the U50 Diver Tourbillon Desert Mint AWC all about !!! Well, first it is crafted in a 45mm-wide lightweight Titanium case – It features two large screw-down crowns. The two-position crown at 4 o’clock is used for winding and setting the time, while the crown at 2 o’clock is used to rotate the uni-directional 60-minute flange ring

Opposite the crowns on the left side of the case at the 9 o’clock position, a helium escape valve is placed to ensure the watch’s water-resistance of 300 meters (1’000 feet).

With its core functions – hours, minutes, small seconds and one-minute flying tourbillon – the A-300 caliber has 23 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement and measures just 4.3 millimetres in thickness and 32.8 millimetres in diameter. The 4 Hz / 28,800 vph frequency is a guarantee for high performance and precision

Even though the A-300 caliber in the U50 Diver Tourbillon is intended as a high-performance movement ready to take on more extreme situations, the ultra-slim movement has painstakingly executed contemporary haute horlogerie finishing with snailed black ADLC coating and chamfered edges. The design is enhanced by a skeletonized ratchet and barrel in the exclusive Angelus six-spoke design.

We have created 16 of this beautiful masterpieces for the club members and released them in a private event at PDL shop in Dubai where the team from Angelus flew from Switzerland to hand deliver the watches to all the collectors.
