With the Riviera 73, Baume & Mercier reinterprets the aesthetic spirit of the first generation of the Riviera launched in 1973. Since its launch, this model stood out for its unique silhouette and a design approach that blends modernity and elegance. The Riviera 73 M0A10844, M0A10845 and M0A10845 models, featuring a 39 mm diameter, are powered by a quartz movement. Their 7.7m thickness emphasises its harmonious proportions, and the dodecagonal bezel without visible screwsalong with wide dial opening showcase the elegance of its shape. On the case back, each model features the engraving “73” among vertical stripes, evoking the deck of a boat, and a typography inspired by the 1970s, a discreet signature that echoes the collection’s origins.

The history of the Riviera collection

Created in 1973, the Riviera collection stands out for its bold, innovative style, as one of the first steel sport chic watches. It was memorable from its launch, with its dodecagonal case and metal flat-link strap;style elements that laid the foundations of an original, immediately recognizable watch identity. The first generation was launched in quartz, and it quickly became available in a self-winding version, asserting the care brought to both design and technical achievement.

The second generation, released in 1980, introduced bicolor versions and the first appearance of the name ‘Riviera’ on the dial. In 1983, the collection stood out for its ultra-thin quartz movement with a thickness of just 2.5 mm and unprecedented complications such as a split-seconds, a perpetual calendar, and a second time zone. The third generation, launched in 1985, featured softened edges on the case and strap, played on polished and satin finishes, and incorporated a miniaturized crown for better water-tightness. The fourth generation, presented in 2004, included two distinct styles: a classic model and a sporty one, recognisable by its bezel equipped with four screws.

In 2021, the fifth generation affirmed the modernity of the Riviera with feminine 36 mm models and masculine 42 mm ones, some equipped with the Baumatic movement, others by a self-winding movement, featuring a dial adorned with a mountain-and-wave pattern. The collection was then extended to 39 mm self-winding and Baumatic models, as well as women’s 33 mm timepieces equipped with self-winding and quartz movements. Lastly, in 2025, the collection was completed by 41 mm chronographs, confirming the precision and unique style of the Riviera.

Today, the Riviera 73 continues to write history with a new expression of the Riviera design, inspired by the aesthetic codes of the first generation.

This year we kick it off with a very special collaboration; a first for the club and for Baume et Mercier – we decided to develop a new watch off catalogue that represents an artistic take on the Clifton line from Baume et Mercier

We introduce the Baume et Mercier Opal Mozaic Dial for Arab Watch Club. We started this project after Geneva Watch days in September 2025, right after a visit to the Museum where we discovered a wealth of incredible historical releases from the brand since 1830s… but what caught my attention was the erea of the 30s and 40s where the blend of shapes and stones with predominant.

From there an idea came to mind and I immediately proposed it to Michael Guenoun , CEO of Baume et Mercier. In our conversation, I mentioned to him that I would love to blend the past and future into one edition for AWC. A baumatic movement with a stone dial, more precisely an Opal stone broken into several Mosaic pieces. I chose Opal, because for me personally i believe it is the most elevated and elegant stone in the world and its colors and diversity is mesmerising. The idea of reshaping the stone into smaller pieces combined as a Mosaic will create a  kind of Art Deco look for the watch, a much more unique dial for each collector and also an homage to a craft very well knows in the Levant using Mother of pearl into furniture, architecture and more.

The dial animation of course is the focus of this edition – the opal stones have been carefully sources to have a color combination mix of green, blue and pink hues to create a playful display once broken into Mosaic.

The feature comes in a 39mm Stainless Steel bracelet with a very slick Clifton case with curves that blend very well with the lugs drop – the strap is a green croco strap that complements the colors of the dial – each watch is numbered One of 30 and has the initials of the collector on its case back. This is edition is an expression of love and art for the horology world and a start of a new era for our Club Special Editions.

RIVIERA M0A10811: the azure blue of a Mediterranean summer

Not to be missed this summer, the Riviera collection takes on a new blue timepiece inspired by the aquatic world. This Riviera offers a refreshing plunge into the waves of its transparent transfer decorations, sprinkled with Roman numerals, riveted indexes, and faceted hour and minute hands, all rhodium-plated and coated with white Superluminova (blue glow). An aperture at 3 o’clock reveals the date.

With a diameter of 33 mm and a thickness of 9.22 mm, the satin-polished stainless steel case highlights the chic side of this sporty watch, topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides. Fastened by four screws, the bezel is crafted in polished and sun-satin stainless steel. The solid dodecagonal case back may be custom-engraved. It is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-glare coating on both sides. Fastened by four screws, the bezel is crafted in polished and sun-satin stainless steel. Four screws also appear on the back, where a sapphire crystal reveals the fascinating spectacle of the watch movement. The case back may be engraved. The octagonal steel crown is free and adorned with the embossed Phi logo and a black line.

RIVIERA M0A10822 – Special Baumatic Edition: the gold tone of a sunny summer

Its well-structured silhouette beautifully combines gold tone and steel; retro charm and contemporary appeal; and various delicately contrasted finishes, including vertical satin, satin polish, snailing, and rhodium plating. The summer dresses up in luxury and glamor for a style lesson in timeless, sophisticated elegance.

The dial asserts vertical satin effects that bring it a depth and texture that flatter its beauty. Its gold tone draws its warmth and softness from its vintage inspiration.
