Panerai ignites the Luminor collection with the launch of the new Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460, the first-ever combination of a 40mm Luminor case with this renowned material. This addition embodies Panerai’s high-tech expertise in material innovation and its timeless Italian design, capturing the distinctive Luminor aesthetic in a smaller size, enhancing both versatility and contemporary appeal. Staying true to the Luminor signature design, the new PAM01460 features the unmistakable crown protecting device – now crafted in ceramic – along with the dial’s luminosity and its sandwich construction. Swiss precision manufacturing meets Panerai’s bold aesthetic, catering to the demands of the modern lifestyle.

“The new Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460 showcases Panerai’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technical innovation while honoring the legacy of our functional design. Featuring a first for Panerai -a 40mm black ceramic case offered with striking black dial combination- this timepiece highlights our advanced manufacturing capabilities and expertise in high-tech materials, specifically mastering the complexities of ceramic. Designed for the cosmopolitan traveler, this watch embodies understated sophistication and the innovative spirit we want to impart to our clients,” says Jérôme Cavadini, Chief Operating Officer of Panerai.

Celebrated for its exceptional performance, ceramic has become a cornerstone of Panerai’s high-tech material portfolio, introduced for the first time in 2007 with the Radiomir Black Seal Ceramica PAM00292. Its lightweight nature ensures remarkable wearability, while its strong resistance to high temperatures, corrosion and scratches guarantees long-lasting durability. But it is in the creation of Panerai cases that the Maison truly demonstrates its expertise, transforming ceramic into intricate and highly functional professional tool watches and resulting in timepieces that capture the Maison’s sporting yet sophisticated essence.

The complexity of Panerai’s case design, with its multiple rounded surfaces and emblematic components like the crown guard and lever, is meticulously manufactured to ensure elevated water resistance, achieving up to 30 bar (~300 meters) for the PAM01460. Each timepiece has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to guarantee it meets Panerai’s stringent standards. Maintaining these features in a high-tech material like ceramic, demands an unparalleled level of technicity and advanced manufacturing processes, an expertise that Panerai guards within its Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Furthermore, extensive research and development have been conducted to reinforce the case’s most exposed and delicate parts, including the lugs. These refinements ensure that the lugs, which experience the most stress during everyday wear, meet Panerai standards for shock resistance.

The Panerai Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460 presents a sophisticated, all-black aesthetic. Encased in 40mm of black ceramic, it features Panerai’s signature sun-brushed sandwich dial in black, with luminous numerals and markers in white Super-LumiNova® X2 for enhanced legibility. A subtle nod to Panerai’s Italian heritage is the “BiTempo” inscription on the dial, the Italian term for “dual time”.

PAM01460 is powered by the automatic P.900/GMT movement, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The caliber, visible through the smoked sapphire crystal open case back, integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions, measuring 12½ lignes (28.2mm) in diameter and only 5.20 mm thick. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel.

Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting. Its GMT complication with a 12-hour display is a return to the Maison’s heritage, echoing some of the earliest models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension to the watch’s usability, especially for those who track multiple time zones, the quintessential complication for the most cosmopolitan of explorers.

Available in boutiques starting from October 2025, PAM01460 is complemented by a supple black calf leather strap and an additional black rubber strap, equipped with the PAM Click Release System™ on both strap and buckle, requiring no tool for easy changes, making it versatile for various occasions and styles.

Panerai strengthens its presence in the UAE with the opening of a new boutique in Dubai, located in the Mall of the Emirates, one of the region’s most important shopping destinations.

Home to more than 80 luxury brands and 250 flagship stores, the mall welcomed over 40 million visitors in 2024, confirming its status as a central hub for both residents and international travellers.

“For Panerai, visibility in destinations that combine international reach with a discerning local clientele is essential. The Mall of the Emirates is not only a landmark of luxury in the UAE but also a driver of growth at the regional level. Alongside our Dubai Mall space, it allows us to engage a sophisticated audience, from local collectors to global travellers. We are delighted to open our doors here, offering a unique customer journey that showcases our Maison’s heritage, technical innovations, and its role as the benchmark for professional tool watches,” says Guillermo Del Nogal, Chief Commercial Officer of Panerai.

Stepping into the boutique, visitors are immediately enveloped in the essence of Panerai’s connection to the world of the Sea. This maritime narrative is powerfully conveyed through the architectural form of the façade, which features striking wave-like blue metal shop windows. As a testament to the Maison’s dedication to deliver unique customer experiences, the boutique is conceived as an immersive journey into the heart of Panerai’s mission to produce reliable, professional tool watches, fueled by the innovative spirit of Laboratorio di Idee, the avant-garde R&D division of the Neuchâtel Manufacture. This voyage unfolds through a captivating visual story, tracing the pivotal milestones that have shaped Panerai’s most distinctive technical features: luminescence and legibility in darkness, remarkable water resistance, extended power reserve and robust construction. Above, a monumental clock serves as a constant reminder of Panerai’s unparalleled expertise in underwater luminescence and legibility.

Discreetly concealed behind mirrored doors lies an exclusive private lounge, designed to cultivate a more intimate and reflective sales experience. This place invites clients to delve into and connect with the world of Panerai in its most authentic form. A subtle homage to local culture is woven into the very fabric of the private space, with Arabic-inspired motifs adorning the walls, while the warmth of Italian hospitality is reflected in the inviting coffee area where clients can savor an Italian espresso.

The grand opening will be celebrated on October 10th with a day of events beginning with a media preview in the morning, followed by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with VIPs in the evening, and concluding with a private dinner.

Florence, September 10, 1993: a legendary moment when Panerai emerged from its classified past and into public view. From the 1910s, when the first documents attest to initial commissions for the Royal Italian Navy, until 1993, Panerai watches were exclusively worn by military personnel. Conceived as precision instruments built to withstand the most challenging missions of the Italian Navy, they were shrouded in military secrecy. It was only in 1993 that these functional timepieces became accessible to the civilian public for the first time, bearing the hallmarks of purpose-built design and marking a breakthrough moment in the world of watchmaking. This year, on the anniversary of its 1993 debut, Panerai unveils “The Depth of Time” a historical exhibition honoring its legacy as a supplier to the Italian Navy and celebrating the pivotal moment that launched Panerai’s ascent as an international name in mechanical watchmaking.

“We are proud to unveil “The Depths of Time” exhibition, where connoisseurs and watch enthusiasts can discover the secrets of Panerai’s legendary past and the heritage that defines our distinctive identity. The exhibition offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the birth of Panerai’s distinctive features, which have evolved into a design that is now unmistakable and recognized worldwide. Each innovation originally served a functional need, and each contributed to defining the Maison’s identity. Through the lens of history, we explore the hallmarks of the brand’s unique identity, showcasing how a family-owned business, in less than a century, captured the public’s attention with its compelling allure and became a recognized name in the luxury watchmaking industry.” says Emmanuel Perrin, CEO of Panerai.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, Panerai hosts an exclusive preview event, welcoming clients and press, and presents the new Luminor Marina Militare PAM05218 – a timepiece directly inspired by that transformative moment in the brand’s history. This new model is a faithful reinterpretation of the Luminor ref. 5218-202/A created exclusively for the Italian Navy personnel and introduced in 1993 after the presentation of the first Luminor ref. 5218-2021/A and Mare Nostrum 5218-301/A to the civilian public.

The exhibition retraces the trajectory of Panerai’s evolution—from its foundational role as a supplier to the Royal Italian Navy to its emergence in 1993 as a watchmaker known beyond the world of defence. On show are never before seen archival materials, including personal correspondence between the Panerai family and the Marina Militare, technical drawings, early catalogues, and original historical photographs. Instruments such as compasses and depth gauges are displayed alongside historical watches and reproductions of historical patents that document Panerai’s groundbreaking work in luminosity, underwater readability, and instrument design. The narrative culminates in the historic debut aboard the destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne (D560) in the presence of Amedeo of Savoia Aosta, son of Duke Aimone di Savoia founder of the Assault Craft of the Italian Royal Navy —a moment that signalled the beginning of Panerai’s life as a civilian-facing brand, without compromising its DNA of engineered precision and rugged utility.

Held at the Florence Flagship store, the Maison’s birthplace, and running for two months from September 10th, the exhibition offers an unmissable opportunity to discover the history of the watch brand before it became a brand available to the public. The Florentine exhibition marks the start of a global tour that will travel to the US and China after its European run.

The “Depths of Time” retraces the trajectory of Panerai’s evolution—from its foundational role as a supplier to the Royal Italian Navy to its emergence in 1993 as a watchmaker known beyond the world of defence. The narrative culminates in the historic debut aboard the destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne (D560) in the presence of Duke Amedeo d’Aosta, son of Duke Aimone di Savoia founder of the Assault Craft of the Italian Royal Navy —a moment that signalled the beginning of Panerai’s life as a civilian-facing brand, without compromising its DNA of engineered precision and rugged utility.

Luminor Marina Militare PAM05218
Luminor Marina Militare PAM05218 revisits one of the most significant milestones in the Maison’s modern history. Unveiling on September 10th, 2025, in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition “The Depths of Time,” it pays tribute to Luminor Marina Militare ref. 5218-202/A, which also debuted in 1993, the same year as Luminor ref. 5218-201/A and Mare Nostrum ref. 5218-301/A.

The Luminor Marina Militare ref. 5218-202/A was a timepiece exclusively offered to Marina Militare personnel, while Luminor ref. 5218-201/A and Mare Nostrum ref. 5218-301/A were the first two references available to the Civil Market and unveiled on 10th September 1993, aboard the Italian destroyer ship Durand de la Penne (D560) in the presence of Amedeo of Savoia Aosta, son of Duke Aimone di Savoia founder of the Assault Craft of the Italian Royal Navy.

“ With “The Depths of Time” exhibition, we invite enthusiasts and newcomers alike to discover the captivating evolution of Panerai, from our historical role as a supplier to the Royal Italian Navy to our rise as a brand in luxury watchmaking. The new Luminor Marina Militare PAM05218 celebrates a milestone: the unveiling of secrets and the birth of the Panerai legend” says Alessandro Ficarelli, Chief Marketing and Product Officer of Panerai.

For the first time, Panerai reinterprets the original reference in this configuration, remaining faithful to its historic codes while subtly enhancing the construction. The 44mm diameter of the case is maintained, recalling how the original ref. 5218-202/A marked a departure from the standard 47mm cases typically supplied to the Marina Militare. This change reflected Panerai’s mission to create a watch that retained the essence of larger cases while incorporating a minimalist and modern aesthetic, resulting in a clean and linear design. This daring design choice set a new benchmark for the watch industry, cementing Panerai’s status as a leading player and trend setter in the world of horology.

The 44mm steel case of PAM05218 is now coated in DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon), offering a color finish visually consistent with the original PVD treatment of the 5218- 202/A. This results in a striking all-black case, preserving the appealing aesthetic of the original ref. 5218-202/A, which stood out among the other steel references presented in 1993. DLC is a carbon-based coating applied to metal surfaces that offers hardness, resistance to wear, and corrosion protection—while giving the case its distinct black appearance.

The watch is powered by the P.6000 calibre—a hand-wound movement with a three-day power reserve. It measures 15½ lignes in diameter and features a balance wheel that oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour. A traversing balance bridge that securely positions the oscillator enhances the movement’s stability and precision.

The dial bears the ‘Marina Militare’ inscription, a tribute to Panerai’s long-standing historical partnership with the Marina Militare, one that began in the 1910s and has spanned over a century. In addition, the font used for the numerals and letters has been specially redrawn to reflect the original typography of the 1993 reference. Unlike Panerai’s signature sandwich construction, this is a monolayer hollowed dial: engraved and filled with Super- LumiNova®, with a subtly concave finish that gives the numerals a three-dimensional appearance. A defining visual trait of the 1993 model has been carefully revived: the “non matching” dial and hands. Originally caused by a chemical reaction between tritium and varnish, the early production pieces developed orange-brown numerals while the hands remained greenish—a contrast that later became highly collectible.

This unintentional anomaly was corrected in later batches, but only few “non matching” pieces were produced, making them especially rare. The PAM05218 recreates this effect intentionally using caramel Super-LumiNova® on the engraved monolayer matte black dial, paired with hands in a lighter tone—an exacting nod to one of the most cherished details in Panerai’s civilian debut. The case features a closed, screw-down caseback with a water resistance up to 30 bar (~300 meters). On the caseback, the Officine Panerai Firenze signature, historic OP logo and watch features appear just as they did on the original. Completing the tribute is a straight, vintage shaped golden brown calf leather strap with a black steel DLC trapezoidal buckle, sewn-in by construction, as on the 1993 model, imbuing the timepiece with a captivating vintage allure. The watch also features a second black rubber strap, paired with an additional buckle.

Debuting in boutiques September 2025, the PAM05218 is available upon request, making it a coveted acquisition for discerning clients.

Panerai & Marina Militare
The collaboration between Panerai and the Italian Navy is a defining chapter in Panerai’s history, one that began in the 1910s and has spanned over a century. Initially tasked with designing precision instruments for the Italian Navy’s highly demanding missions, Panerai pioneered technical solutions that enhanced military operations in extreme conditions and environments. From the creation of luminescent tools to the engineering of high-strength diving watches tailored for Italian Navy underwater commandos, Panerai proved itself an essential partner in the Navy’s most daring endeavours.

This partnership extended beyond watches, encompassing innovations such as technical equipment and landing systems for aircraft carriers and helicopters capable ships. Each invention exemplified Panerai’s ingenuity in crafting tools for challenging environments. In 1935, Panerai developed the Ref. 2533 prototype, where Panerai’s technical modifications resulted in a timepiece that could withstand the rigors of Incursori’s underwater missions.

Panerai continues to honor this shared legacy through timepieces combining robust engineering with contemporary functionality. This latest collection is inspired by Aviazione Navale – the Italian Navy aviation branch – whose commitment is providing embarked aircraft as force multipliers of the Fleet in the more challenging environments, projecting at distance operational capabilities on and from the sea wherever they are needed. The choice of associating with the Aviazione Navale, with its heritage of operational commitment and with some of the most advanced rotary and fixed wing aircraft, reinforces Panerai bonds with the Armed Forces, closely linked to the brand’s DNA of designing tools for modern heroes, offering watches that excel in precision, durability, and toughness. This enduring partnership between two Italian names, celebrates a mutual dedication to innovation and purpose.

The New Experience Edition PAM01699
Since 2019, Panerai launched the Experiences Program, a unicum initiative within the luxury watch industry, setting a new benchmark in clients’ treatment. The program provides owners with access to once-in-a-lifetime opportunities where they can connect deeply with Panerai’s essence, embarking on three different types of experiences, each one dedicated to the core value of the brand: adventure, military and italianity.

The Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition PAM01699 represents the next episode in Panerai’s commitment to connecting timepieces with transformative journeys. Limited to just 35 pieces, this watch is the key to a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that challenges its wearers to embrace resilience and human endurance. Inspired by the Aviazione Navale for the first time ever, this edition invites participants to push their physical and mental boundaries in an experience rooted in its military heritage.

“The Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition PAM01699 is a gateway to our fifth experience within the Military Chapter. Inspired by our century-long partnership with the Italian Navy and, for the first time, its Naval Aviation branch, this timepiece embodies Panerai’s commitment to functionality. Made for modern heroes, it is designed to perform in the most daring conditions, bridging our rich military expertise with the demands of contemporary adventurers. This launch reaffirms our mission to create not just instruments of timekeeping but tools that become essential companions of demanding endeavours,” says Alessandro Ficarelli, CMO of Panerai.

Building on the success of previous editions, such as the Italian Navy Experience in La Spezia in 2019 and the Italian Navy Experience in Brindisi in 2022, this new edition shed a light on the Italian Navy aviation branch. This is a new episode of the Military chapter, extending Panerai’s legacy into the skies and seas with the new PAM01699 as the ultimate companion. Set against the stunning backdrop of Puglia, Italy, at the Naval Air Station in Grottaglie, participants will step into the shoes of a modern hero for three days. They will learn the uncompromising discipline of the Military Corps, participating in thrilling military training activities while gaining rare insight into their usual naval aviation operations through tactical simulations and helicopter missions. Beyond that, guests will have the opportunity to flank aircrew during their flight activity, and soak in the authentic atmosphere of southern Italian culture.

At the heart of PAM01699 is the P.9100/R automatic calibre featuring five patented innovations. With its flyback chronograph with vertical clutch – ensuring instant activation of the second hand – and column wheel, this complex calibre is made of 332 components.

It has a diameter of 13 ¾ lignes and a thickness of 9,55mm. The countdown functionality makes it a critical tool for time-sensitive challenges. The flyback function of the chronograph, derives from military and air navigation history, providing PAM01699 with instant reset and restart of the chronograph while running, with only one click instead of three. This meets the needs of military operations, measuring several time intervals the fastest. Designed for ultimate reliability, the patented mechanism allows the time-to-target countdown function to be easily set using the push-button at 4 o’clock and activated at 10 o’clock. Preserving Panerai’s signature design, this flyback chronograph has been designed with the patented guide lever for pusher, which preserves Panerai’s emblematic crown-protector aesthetic while optimizing the placement of the left-hand pushers. Their position allows the pushers to be operated intuitively with the thumb, confirming Panerai’s quest for functional design.

The movement also features long central chrono seconds and minutes hands, bringing readability to the next level, while the hammer reset and ‘stop and reset second in one piece’ patents guarantee simultaneous resetting of the two central hands when the crown is pulled. The caliber features also the ‘Quick Change of Time’ function.

When the crown of the watch is pulled out to the first click, it is possible to move the hour hand forwards and backwards in steps of exactly one hour, without moving the minute hand. Alongside the innovative time-keeping performance, the two spring barrels in series ensure a 3-day power reserve. The choice of the double spring barrel enables thinner, longer springs to be used, which is beneficial for the duration and evenness of the supply of energy. P.9100/R is also equipped with the second reset function, thanks to which the seconds hand returns to the zero position when pulling the crown, allowing the watch to be synchronized perfectly and easily with a reference time signal, a perfect feature for synchronized operations.

As part of the Submersible Collection, PAM01699 is designed for deep sea-exploration, featuring a certification of 50 BAR (~500 meters) water resistance. This performance turns out to be even more impressive knowing that all Panerai timepieces are tested to +25% of the stated water resistance. PAM01699 enables its wearers to spend time underwater safely thanks to the unidirectional rotating bezel, which ensures precision in tracking the immersion time.

Constructed from Grade 5 Titanium, the 47mm brushed case is significantly lighter yet boasts increased strength and durability, featuring an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and a high-resistance to corrosion. Titanium provides a 40% reduction in weight and is 60% harder than steel, ensuring that the watch is wearable while boasting remarkable physical and mechanical qualities, not only with sea water but also with other chemical agents. Reflecting the durability and ruggedness of aviation equipment, the unidirectional titanium bezel is enriched with a matt black ceramic insert derived from zirconium oxide powder with high resistance to scratches, corrosive agents encountered in everyday life and high temperatures.

The watch’s green-grained matt dial with black gradient finish featuring the Marina Militare signature at 6 o’clock, is inspired by Aviazione Navale aircrew flight gear and helmets, also recalled by the titanium bezel with black matt ceramic disk. Grey Super-LumiNova®, taking after the colors of Aviazione Navale aircraft, enhances legibility in low-light conditions, while the small seconds counter’s design resembles a radar display, with the historical Aviazione Navale aircraft’s anchor insignia subtly engraved. Complementing the dial is a green cotton canvas strap with T/T stitching, delivering durability and a nod to the military uniforms. A second black rubber strap is available, making it the perfect companion for diving missions.

The screwed titanium case back is engraved with the Aviazione Navale wings emblem, a first-time ever in Panerai’s collections, completing its refined yet robust design.

Complex with advanced functionality, innovative materials, and robust engineering, the new Experience edition remains lightweight with impressive water resistance, making it a reliable companion for demanding environments.

As luminescent as the Luminor. The name Luminor originates from the luminous compound created by Panerai, an innovative material that shaped the creation of the first models in the early 1960s. Invented to meet the demanding standards of the Italian Navy, Panerai had long been supplying robust and precise instruments to the Marina Militare, but it was the Luminor that brought together a collection of distinctive features in ‘90s.

Among these, the crown protective device with lever – originally designed to prevent water seepage from entering the case – stands out as the most emblematic and instantly recognizable element until today. Every element served a purpose, balancing form and function, maximizing reliability, readability and resilience, in a way that would come to define Panerai’s watchmaking tenet. By the 1960s, these characteristics had consolidated into a design that, with its safety lock system – along with the sandwich dial and enhanced luminescence – set the Luminor apart and became synonymous with the Maison.

In 1993, Panerai introduced Luminor ref. 5218-201/A together with Luminor Marina Militare ref. 5218-202/A and Mare Nostrum ref. 5218-301/A to the civilian public for the first time.

Debuting aboard the Italian navy cruiser Durand De la Penne, a launch ceremony was held on September 10th in the La Spezia military harbor and attended by Duke Amedeo D’Aosta. With its distinctive aesthetic, bold size, and departure from precious materials, the Luminor disrupted conventional watch design and set a new standard for rugged elegance.

Today, Luminor is Panerai’s most recognizable collection, an enduring functional design that has evolved through the Maison’s Laboratorio di Idee. From high complications to innovative materials, the Luminor remains a platform for innovation—forever timeless, yet continuously advancing in performance.

The new Luminor Perpetual Calendar GMT Platinumtech PAM01575
Panerai’s finest materials, innovative mechanics, and timeless design come together in the new Luminor Perpetual Calendar GMT Platinumtech PAM01575, expanding the Maison’s high-end range for collectors and aficionados.

“The Luminor Perpetual Calendar represents Panerai’s dedication to advancing both function and form. The timepiece incorporates the recognizable design elements of the Maison’s most emblematic collection with the watchmaking complexity of the perpetual calendar and preciousness of Panerai PlatinumtechTM. With a sapphire dial that reveals the calibre intricacies and functions, the new Luminor provides wearers with a deeper connection to the art of timekeeping. This watch embodies our commitment to creating not only a tool for precision but a piece of elegance that reflects Panerai’s legacy of technical innovation and functional design”, says Panerai’s COO Jérôme Cavadini.

Crafted from Panerai Platinumtech™, a special alloy made with 95% pure platinum, the 44mm case boasts a 40% increase in hardness than standard platinum due to a distinctive treatment process. Providing a higher scratch resistance than standard platinum, this material weighs 33% more than 18-carat gold, giving it a notable heft. Complementing this robust case are the emblematic crown-protecting device and a striking blue sapphire crystal dial, which offers a transparent window into the watch’s day and date disks, adding visual intrigue while maintaining clarity. The rich blue tone, contrasting with luminescent applied indexes and hands, evokes Panerai’s maritime heritage, reminiscent of deep ocean waters. The watch’s aesthetic is enhanced with Super-LumiNova® X2 on the hour, minute and small-second hands and markers that provide a vivid green glow in the dark, an improved grade that ensures a luminosity more efficient than its predecessor. For legibility, information is displayed on both sides of the movement, resulting in a clearer, more streamlined dial.

When it comes to high-complications, Panerai stands out for its commitment to merging innovation and simplicity of usage. The dial is restrained, with only the most essential indications—hours, minutes, day, date, 12-hour GMT hand, a 24-hour GMT sub-dial at 9 o’clock, small seconds, and a day-night indicator—preserving the clarity and readability for which Panerai is renowned. Through the sapphire case back, elements such as month, year, and leap year, are visible offering a rare window into the developed technicity of the P.4100 movement. The sole outward reference to the intricate complexity within is the inscription “Calendario Perpetuo,” an homage to both the watch’s perpetual calendar complication and Panerai’s Italian heritage.

Panerai’s P.4100 calibre, an automatic mechanical movement, is the result of research and development that spanned over ten years by Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee. Featuring a three-day power reserve, the energy is stored in two barrels with a gold off-centered microrotor that winds the movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), to ensure precision and reliability in timekeeping. The off-centered position of the micro-rotor allows for more space to display all the information – with just 15 ½ lignes (35.1 mm) in diameter and 7mm in thickness. A true timekeeping companion, the P.4100 caliber features a disc that, as it rotates, allows, the date to be calculated up to 2399 without the need to change any part within the movement. At the end of each century, it will only require the intervention of a watchmaker to perform a maneuver to disassemble the movement bridge and rotate the hundreds disc by 90°, thus allowing the watch to continue calculating the years.

One of its standout innovations is the intuitive adjustment system, which allows the wearer to modify the day, date, month, and leap year settings using only the crown. This design enables smooth adjustments both forward and backward without restrictions, even around sensitive transition periods such as midnight or month-end. This user-friendly approach eliminates the need for complex tools and reduces the risk of mishandling—a notable departure from traditional perpetual calendars that often require professional expertise to adjust. The movement also features Panerai’s patented date shock protection system to stabilize the date disk, ensuring accuracy and resilience against everyday wear. Traditional perpetual calendars are prone to misalignment if subjected to sudden impacts, as a jolt can shift the date mechanism, necessitating manual correction. This system also reduces the need for frequent servicing, enhancing the watch’s durability.

Another patented system is the specially designed GMT spring with a distinctive geometry to distribute pressure across multiple contact points. This innovation reduces wear and tear, prevents premature fatigue, and ensures smoother transitions for the GMT hand. By enhancing the reliability of the dual-time function, Panerai provides dependable tracking of a second-time zone, offering an advantage over traditional perpetual calendars that may rely on standard springs with limited durability.

Water resistant up to 5 BAR, approximately 50 meters, the watch has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it meets Panerai’s standards.

Matching with the dial and GMT hand, the new timepiece comes with an elegant dark blue alligator strap with handmade vintage patina finish as well as a more casual blue
rubber strap, making it versatile for various occasions. PAM01575 is available exclusively in Panerai boutiques.

Invented to meet the demanding standards of the Italian Navy, Panerai had long been supplying robust and precise instruments to the Marina Militare, but it was the Luminor that brought together a collection of distinctive features in ‘90s.

Panerai presents the all-new series of Luminor Marina timepieces at Watches & Wonders 2025
An enduring emblem, the Luminor Marina is among Panerai’s most celebrated models, distinguished by its contemporary, sporty style and deep-rooted history. At Watches and Wonders 2025, Panerai celebrates the legacy of Luminor Marina with a series of novelties featuring new essential details and technical features while preserving the core identity of its signature aesthetics, reliability, and functionality. Available in titanium and steel, these novelties are designed for the assertive, self-assured individual who values a timepiece with both presence and purpose. The new series remains quintessentially Panerai, recognizable at a glance with its bold lines and emblematic design features yet tailored to meet modern standards of comfort and precision.

Key elements remain steadfast, from the signature safety lock system—a distinctive feature that defines Panerai’s visual identity—to the luminous dial with sandwich construction, offering optimal readability in all conditions. A clean dial displaying only the Maison’s name and ‘Luminor Marina’ with an enlarged beveled date display creates a bolder and cleaner appeal. The rhodium small seconds display further supports performance by allowing users to verify functionality with ease. For the first time in Panerai’s core collection, the series utilizes the Super-LumiNova® X2, an innovation that provides an increased brightness, ensuring the watch is easily readable even in low-light conditions—an ode to the crucial feature for military naval missions.

At the heart of the Luminor Marina series is the new P.980 calibre, a 3-day power reserve automatic movement. It includes a traversing balance bridge, enhancing stability and performance accuracy. The movement features a stop-second function, allowing for precise time-setting by halting the seconds hand when the crown lever is pulled out. Additionally, the P.980 has undergone six-position testing to ensure reliable chronometric performance. Its construction includes new finishing for an essential design visible through an open sapphire case-back, and it operates at a frequency designed to maintain consistent, accurate timekeeping over extended use.

The new Luminor Marina series features, for the first time ever, a water resistance up to 50 BAR (~500 meters), a debut standard for the collection. This significant upgrade builds on Panerai’s legacy of creating reliable, high-performance timepieces, reflecting its history as a supplier to the Italian Navy. Each watch undergoes rigorous testing at a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it meets Panerai’s stringent standards. With this enhancement, the Luminor Marina reaffirms its position as a robust tool watch, suited for professional divers and enthusiasts alike.

Thanks also to the caliber’s sleeker proportions, measuring just 12½ lignes, the case design has been modernized with a reduced thickness by 12% and a weight reduced by 15% for comfort and ergonomic wearability while maintaining its bold identity. The new streamlined lugs and PAM Click™ release system on both strap and buckle, available for the first time with the Luminor Marina, make strap changes an effortless tool-free experience, adding to the watch’s versatility.

Luminor Marina Titanio PAM003325, a showcase of its high-tech material expertise
The new Luminor Marina Titanio PAM003325 cuts a distinctive silhouette merging Panerai’s high-tech material expertise with a distinct olive green aesthetic reminiscent of the Maison’s military origins. An exemplary material meets a defining colour.

Its 44mm brushed-finished case is crafted from Grade 5 titanium, a remarkable material known for its strength, comparable with that of steel but with 44% less weight, making it an ideal choice for those who prioritize both resilience and comfort. It is resistant to corrosion and physical wear, providing robustness and longevity for everyday use. Panerai’s longstanding use of titanium dates back to the 1980s when the Maison created the Millemetri prototype.

Panerai reintroduced titanium into its collection in 1998 with the Submersible PAM00025, selected for its corrosion resistance, which made it particularly suited for Navy applications, where equipment regularly encounters seawater. This choice of material reflects Panerai’s roots in creating robust tool watches for extreme conditions, a legacy that continues in today’s titanium models.

Paired with a polished bezel and an olive-green sun-brushed dial, PAM003325 comes with a dark green scamosciato calf strap—an homage to the vintage look of yesteryear pieces—and a second dark green rubber strap.

The new Luminor Marina steel, an icon reimagined
Exceptionally robust, the 44mm Luminor Marina steel is crafted from Panerai’s premium AISI 316LVM – 1.4441 stainless steel, known for its strenght and corrosion resistance, further enhanced by the low-carbon variant of this alloy. It is vacuum arc remelted to maximize purity and therefore it improves the resistance to corrosion. This high-quality alloy consists of iron with 16-18% chromium, 11-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum, engineered for optimal strength and resilience.

Luminor Marina PAM03323 reimagines an emblematic model with the introduction of a V-shaped bracelet design, offering a fresh perspective on timeless elegance. The new Panerai metal bracelet in a progressive V-shape design that tapers from the case to the buckle, offering a lighter feel for everyday wear. Its aesthetic is characterized by a brushed finish on the interior links and a polished finish on the edges, creating a three-dimensional effect as the light hits the links in different ways. This is also the first model with the new Quick Length Adjustment feature, allowing the bracelet to extend by 2mm on each side while maintaining perfect balance on the wrist. This provides on-the-go adaptability without the need for tools, making it convenient to find the perfect fit throughout the day as wrist sizes may fluctuate due to temperature and activity, ensuring ease for extended wear. The metal bracelet is also equipped with the PAM Click Release System™ for effortless strap changes.

The bracelet is paired with a light blue sun-brushed dial, a first-ever colorway for the Maison, for a contemporary and modernized touch to a timeless emblem.

For those steadfast to the classic aesthetic, the collection is also available in three strap iterations, starting with PAM03312 in a traditional black dial paired with a black alligator strap.

For a modern touch, PAM03313’s sun-brushed blue dial is matched with a blue alligator strap, while PAM03314’s white dial brings a contemporary flair with its black alligator strap.

Each model also includes a second rubber strap in matching colours. Both first and second strap, as well as the buckle, are equipped with the PAM Click Release SystemTM requiring no tool for easy switch between each strap option to ensure versatility for every style preference.

Showcasing at Watches and Wonders 2025, this large-scale installation, measuring 75 cm in width and 86 cm in height and weighing around 110 kg, replicates the fascinating movements of cosmic entities known to mankind thanks to the findings of Galileo.

In 1610, Galileo’s observations provided critical evidence that Earth is not the center of the universe, challenging the long-held geocentric model. With his telescope, he observed four satellites orbiting Jupiter, now known as the Galilean moons: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. Inspired by this, the Jupiterium sets out to re-create the astronomer’s geocentric perspective of the heavens.

With Earth placed at the center of the celestial sphere with other heavenly bodies rotating around it, the clock displays the positions of the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter, as well as its four Medicean stars. These orbits are guided by a manual-winding mechanism with a single-line display perpetual calendar that drives the real-time movement of the celestial bodies. The mechanism contains eight barrels – beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour – each equipped with a spring that measures 4 meters in length, adding up to a total of 32 meters of spring.

These lengthy springs are integral to the clock’s 40-day power reserve system, providing the energy for sustained operation and the smooth functioning of its intricate mechanics.

The Panerai perpetual calendar movement requires no adjustments until the year 2099 and accurately displays the day, date, month and year, adjusting automatically to account for varying month lengths and leap years. Ready to pass until the year 9.999, at the end of each century Jupiterium will only require the intervention of a watchmaker to perform a maneuver to disassemble the movement bridge and rotate the hundreds disc by 90°, thus allowing the watch to continue calculating the years.

The sphere includes two hemispheres, Northern and Southern, connected by a band symbolizing the Earth’s equator and engraved with the 12 zodiac signs. The celestial sphere completes one full rotation every 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds — a sidereal day. In the Panerai Jupiterium, Italy is positioned prominently on the Earth model within the central blue sphere. When viewed from the front, Italy is aligned so that it faces directly outward, allowing observers to see the country clearly from a terrestrial viewpoint. This alignment is part of the Jupiterium’s design to represent Galileo’s perspective and Panerai’s Italian heritage, honoring the influence of his discoveries on astronomy and science.

The retrograde function in the Panerai Jupiterium is a particularly rare horology feature that represents the apparent “backward” motion of planets as seen from Earth. This phenomenon, known as retrogradation, occurs when a planet appears to move in reverse against the backdrop of stars due to the relative positions and motions of Earth and the planet in their respective orbits. To simulate this retrograde motion, particularly for Jupiter and its moons, Panerai has developed a patented mechanism that creates a visually accurate portrayal of how Jupiter appears to slow down, reverse, and then resume forward motion in the sky over certain periods, a motion due to Earth overtaking Jupiter in its orbit.

This effect is achieved through a complex system of gears and counterweights that control the positions and movement of the celestial bodies. This patented system of high-level precision allows the Jupiterium to display a faithful representation of retrograde motion, adding both technical sophistication and astronomical realism to the timepiece.

The celestial vault, complete with constellations, rotates to capture the apparent movement of the stars as observed from Earth. The 1,650 intricately crafted components are primarily made from titanium, chosen for its lightweight yet durable qualities, which help manage the overall weight and strengthen the complex mechanism.

Encased within a glass box on a mahogany base measuring 75×86 cm and weighing around 110 kg, its dial is located beneath the main celestial display sphere. Set against a black base, the dial features long stick hour markers and large, luminescent Arabic numerals at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions, ensuring readability even in low light. The hour, minute, and second hands are similarly coated with Super-LumiNova®, enhancing visibility in darkness. Key indicators include an AM/PM marker and a linear power reserve gauge with the inscription ’40 giorni’ (40 days). The rehaut is engraved with ‘Jupiterium’ while the movement is also indicated in Italian ‘Calendario Perpetuo’ with the day, date, month, and year arranged in a linear display.

This majestic planetarium clock encapsulates some of the standout hallmark technical features of Panerai showcased at Watches and Wonders 2025. Featuring an impressive long power reserve and a sophisticated perpetual calendar, it goes beyond traditional horology by transforming these innovations into a striking architectural installation that inspires one to imagine and marvel at the mysteries of the unexplored universe.

Crafted specifically from Grade 5 titanium, known for being one of the best titanium alloys available, it boasts a strength-to-weight ratio that makes it 40% lighter and 60% harder than steel. This substantial size harks back to the very first case produced by Panerai, inspired by the dimensions of the movements found in their historical models, making it an ideal fit for the wrist of an adrenaline-seeking explorer.

Complementing the titanium case is a unidirectional rotating Carbotech™ bezel, while the dial presents a visually stunning transition from black to anthracite, adorned with beige Super-LumiNova®. At the heart of this timepiece is the automatic P.9010 calibre featuring central hour and minute hands, a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock and a date display at 3 o’clock. The movement boasts a three-day power reserve housed in two spring barrels – whose springs are wound by an oscillating weight operating in both directions – ensuring continuous performance for extended expeditions. The P.9010 caliber presents a quick change of time feature, which allows the hour hand to be adjusted independently in hourly increments without affecting the minute hand, providing convenience for travellers moving across time zones. For greater accuracy when adjusting the time, the calibre also features a device which stops the balance wheel and consequently the seconds hand when the winding crown is pulled out. The timepiece is water resistant up to 30 bar.

With its robust 47mm case crafted from Titanium DLC, the Submersible Chrono Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01521 presents a potent combination of lightness and strength, being 40% lighter and 60% harder than steel. This strength is echoed in the unidirectional rotating Titanium DLC bezel with a black matt ceramic disk, ensuring durability and functionality.

The timepiece is powered by the P.9100/R calibre, an automatic movement with a 3-day power reserve and a flyback chronograph function, further enriched with a countdown feature that tracks time before an event or an expected moment. With a vertical clutch and column wheel, the chronograph minutes are displayed by a central hand that jumps forward once every 60 seconds. This feature enables the chronograph hands, which are already running, to be returned instantaneously to zero and restarted in just one operation.

The countdown can be set by pressing the push-button at 4 o’clock, allowing the minute hand to retreat one minute with each click until the desired time is set. The chronograph hands are activated with a press on the “START” push-piece at 10 o’clock, and the watch also includes hours, minutes, small seconds, calculation of immersion time, stop- seconds, and seconds reset. The power reserve of 72 hours is made possible by its two serially connected spring barrels. This design choice allows for the use of thinner and longer springs, which provide a consistent and stable delivery of energy over the entire period of the reserve.

The dial, featuring a gradient from black to anthracite and accented with beige Super- LumiNova®, ensures legibility in the most challenging conditions. The screwed Titanium DLC case back enhances the watch’s water resistance to 50 bar, making it suitable for even the most demanding underwater missions.

These timepieces have been rigorously tested to water resistance, subjecting them to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure they fulfil Panerai’s stringent standards. This ensures reliability in the most demanding underwater environments, embodying Panerai’s DNA which is steeped in maritime and military history.

The Submersible Navy SEALs collection comes with two straps: the first one, in a bi- material combination of rubber and Camo pattern textile. The second strap is made of black accordion rubber conveying a more understated yet sporty look. On the PAM01518, PAM01669 and PAM01521, the interchangeable strap system allows for quick and easy personalization for different occasions.

The historical background and our source of inspiration

Famous for its early innovations in the field of luminescence, such as the renowned Radiomir and Luminor compounds, Panerai always draws from its rich archives to explore sources of inspiration for new striking concept watches. In its relentless pursuit of innovation, Panerai identified Elux, a technology historically patented on June 15, 1966 as a result of years of diligent research, marking a significant leap forward in the field of luminescence.

An abbreviation of ‘elettroluminescenza’ to mean electroluminescence, Elux were originally electroluminescent panels composed of uniformly luminous surfaces available in various sizes, shapes and materials with their luminescence constantly maintained by an electric field. These panels, completely free from radioactive substances, were exceptionally durable, being both shock and vibration-resistant, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Furthermore, they were energy-efficient, powered by both portable batteries and fixed AC supply, and the intensity of the light could be adjusted as needed. This combination of features made these panels versatile, robust and adaptable to different environments and requirements.

Elux Panerai was a significant instrument for the Italian Navy, where the demand for reliable and efficient lighting was paramount. These panels were specifically designed to enhance the luminescence of naval instruments. Their use was particularly prominent in crucial areas such as command centers and internal signaling boards on ships. As a reliable and efficient light source, it allowed for easy reading of instrument displays under various conditions, including low-light scenarios. One notable development was their utilization in creating luminous pathways and signage for helicopter landing on the decks of military ships in the Italian Navy to assist with night landings or in poor visibility conditions.

Panerai’s signature luminescence finds a new expression through the sophisticated engineering of its fully mechanical Submersible Elux LAB-ID

Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee carries on the essence of the historic family-owned Officine Panerai workshop through its continuous search for innovative technical solutions to elevate the standards and performance of its creations. Serving as a creative incubator, the lab drives innovation with its disruptive approach introducing never-before-seen inventions.

Central to their creations is the Maison’s DNA of legibility in darkness and luminescence, as well as durability, consistently featured across all their concept watches and instruments. From 2017 Panerai presented three concept watches, starting with the LAB-ID™ Luminor Carbotech™ PAM700, distinguished by a deep black dial covered with carbon nanotubes, specifically developed to absorb light and reduce reflection to a minimum, forming a spectacular contrast with the blue of the hour markers and hands. Not to mention the lubrication-free movement guaranteed for 50 years. In 2020, LAB-ID™ Luminor PAM01700 surprised with a new generation of SuperLuminova®, the SuperLuminova® X1, and in 2021, with the Submersible eLAB-ID™ PAM1225.

Building on this legacy, the new Submersible Elux LAB-ID PAM01800 is the culmination of a journey that draws from the historic patented Elux Panerai invention and a perfect expression of the purpose of the Laboratorio di Idee. Reflecting eight years of dedicated Research&Development at Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, the new timepiece represents an actualized mission that exemplifies the Maison’s historic expertise in luminescence with its renowned mechanical watchmaking – the creation of a fully mechanical movement, that can power light on demand.

PAM01800 is a watchmaking feat with four patent* system, 50 bar (~500 meters) water resistance and a 30-minute power light feature, all encapsulated in a 49mm case diameter. On-demand lighting powered by fully mechanical energy storage, a breakthrough innovation. With a simple gesture of opening the patented pusher-protector system and activating the mechanism through the pusher, the watch illuminates through a mechanism conceived by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee. This feat is achieved through an innovative arrangement of four dedicated energy-storing barrels – out of six available in the movement – precisely engineered to unwind in a microgenerator that converts mechanical energy into electricity. The compact 8 x 2.3 mm microgenerator features custom-made coils, magnets and a stator and, to optimize energy efficiency, it incorporates no active electronics, a high-speed rotor operating at 80 revolutions per second, and generates a high-frequency electrical signal of 240 Hz.

This energy is then channeled to illuminate various indicators on the dial, including the lighting power reserve and indexes. Illuminating moving elements such as the hands (patented) and bezel marker (patent pending) was a particularly ambitious process. Overcoming numerous challenges, the team has also ingeniously conducted electricity to the bezel outside of the watch case while maintaining exceptional water resistance levels. This technological feat is not just about the clever rerouting of power but also about optimizing the minimal energy generated by a mechanical barrel. Thanks to its magnetic drive allowing smart lighting, it illuminates only the well- positioned LEDs below the dot, resulting in the lighting of only 15 LEDs simultaneously versus a total amount of 60 LEDs within the ring.

Another remarkable achievement is the mechanism’s ability to provide an extended duration of continuous light for up to 30 minutes, a significant milestone given the limited energy available compared to traditional batteries.

The innovations continue with the Power Light function that relies on four dedicated barrels, with two remaining barrels to ensure the precision of the P.9010/EL over the three days power reserve even if the power light energy is depleted.

To match the intricate inner workings, PAM01800 is set in a Ti-Ceramitech™ case, crafted from ceramized titanium, a pending patent material by Panerai. Through seven years of meticulous research and development, Panerai has filed a patent application for a titanium ceramization process through Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation to achieve a very distinctive hue of blue. This process transforms the titanium alloy surface into a dense ceramic layer, and the specific choice of elements used, combined with the electrolyte composition, allowed for the creation of the watch’s peculiar and striking blue color, a shade inspired by the open seas. The technique yields a significantly enhanced hardness, and the resultant case is 44% lighter than steel yet has fracture toughness ten times higher than traditional ceramic. A material that can withstand high pressure, and very high thermal stress, it is an ode to Panerai’s pursuit of creating reliable innovative instruments.

The dial features a linear Power Light reserve indicator, also a distinctive Panerai feature, with a small seconds indicator at the 9 o’clock position, while the patent pending bezel light system illuminates the timepiece’s counterclockwise rotating bezel. Adding to its robust functionality is the iconic crown-protection bridge, a staple of Panerai’s design language, which securely guards the winding crown against impacts. In this iteration, the historical REG TM mark has been inventively replaced with SUB LAB, marking this model’s special identity within the Submersible series. Completing the watch’s aesthetics are the indices and the hour hand accented with green SuperLuminova® X2 – a deliberate choice that evokes its luminescent vibrancy – now in a new grade that ensures a luminosity 10% higher than SuperLuminova® X1 after 180 minutes in the dark**. The blue-accented minute hands and dots on the bezel are illuminated by SuperLuminova® X1. The watch comes with a blue rubber strap and a second bi-material strap.

The Elux LAB-ID PAM01800 is a limited-edition of 150 pieces, with an availability of 50 pieces per year over three years.

Over these six years of cherished partnership, Panerai has relentlessly developed collections of technical watches, one for each year of preparation in the run-up to the ultimate challenge, either drawing inspiration from the technologies and materials used in the America’s Cup or from the insights and needs of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team.

“Our association with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team resonates deeply with Panerai’s maritime heritage and our pursuit of boundary-pushing performance. This partnership is a natural extension of our brand’s core values,” says CEO of Panerai, Jean-Marc Pontroué. In the run-up to the 37th America’s Cup set in Barcelona, Panerai reaffirms its commitment as the Official Sponsor, joining forces with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team for the second consecutive edition.

“The synergy with Panerai takes us on a shared journey in pushing the limits of performance, where precision, innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence are at the heart of our endeavours,” says Max Sirena, the team’s Skipper and Director.

This collaboration intersects with all the pillars of the Panerai identity, embodying Italian DNA, the Maison’s deep-rooted connection to the marine world, and its commitment to crafting instruments for modern heroes. Watches engineered and tested for the toughest conditions, epitomizing the brand’s dedication to durability, reliability, and functionality.

The new Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio PAM1507

The Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio pays homage to the official America’s Cup races taking place in Barcelona between August and October 2024.

In a global exclusive during the week of Watches and Wonders 2024, PAM01507 will debut as a pioneering watch to feature the new Super-LumiNova® X2 on indeces and hour hand, an improved grade that ensures a luminosity 10% higher than its predecessor after 180 minutes in the dark*. The new timepiece features a 42mm case made from Grade 5 titanium, renowned for its remarkable lightness and strength, being 40% lighter and 60% harder than stainless steel. Embodying the innovative spirit of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team, titanium is also one of the materials used to build the Luna Rossa boat, merging resilience with cutting-edge technology, thanks to the continuous innovation by Laboratorio di Idee at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel.

Water resistant up to 50 bar (~500 meters), this watch has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it meets Panerai’s stringent standards. The improved value is a significant milestone in a domain deeply intertwined with Panerai’s heritage that has consistently made the Maison a preferred choice.

At the heart of PAM1507 is the automatic P.900/GMT movement, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The P.900 is an automatic caliber that integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions. Measuring 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and only 4.2 mm thick. Its GMT complication with a 24-hour display is a return to the Maison’s heritage, echoing some of the earliest models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension to the watch’s usability, especially for those who track multiple time zones.

The GMT hand, inspired by the sails of the Luna Rossa sailing team, is matched with a blue sun-brushed dial and flange, which proudly bears a decal of the Luna Rossa sail. Additionally, the watch features a unidirectional rotating titanium bezel with a blue matt ceramic disk known for its high resistance to scratches, essential for withstanding the shocks or unintended contact with various objects the bezel is usually exposed to and might be damaged by. The indices and the hour hand are accented with green lacquer, a deliberate choice that evokes the luminescent vibrancy of Super-LumiNova® X2, while Super-LumiNova® X-1 illuminates the blue-accented minute hands and dots on the bezel. Ensuring versatility and style, the watch comes with two strap options. The first bi-material strap features a striking red stripe with the words Luna Rossa in white against a blue backdrop, while the second rubber strap boasts a uniform blue tone. The bi-material strap combines the resilience rubber with the aesthetics of textile to reflect the watch’s robust and sporty nature.

The Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio PAM1507 will be available exclusively in boutiques from September 2024.

Panerai’s journey with the America’s Cup, a symbol of nautical excellence and innovation, marks a significant chapter in its storied history. The relationship began in 2017, when Panerai stepped into the sailing sport elite and became the Official Partner of the prestigious sailing competition and the sponsor of the Oracle Team USA and Softbank Team Japan.

Becoming the Official Sponsor of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli for the first time in 2019, it was during the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada, held in the Hauraki Gulf of Auckland in 2021, that Panerai culminated its nautical ties with the sailing team. This partnership emerged naturally for a brand like Panerai that makes performance and technological innovation its distinctive flags.

The new Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech™ PAM01466 and PAM01543

The release represents a strategic alliance of high performance and cutting-edge technology in the shape of a new innovative material, Ti-Ceramitech™, mirroring the ethos of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team at the apex of sailing competition.

“The launch of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech™ series, PAM01466 and PAM01543, marks a significant milestone in our innovation journey,” says Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Panerai. “We are excited to showcase the pioneering Ti-Ceramitech™, a material seven years in the making by our Laboratorio di Idee at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, that epitomizes our dedication to advanced technologies as well as the spirit of Luna Rossa’s quest for daring performances.”

“In recent years, as boats have gotten faster, the forces acting on sails and other boat parts have increased. Friction, which can add up to 30% more force, became a major issue. So, research was done on materials that don’t create as much friction, including titanium, special steels, composites, and more. However, none were ideal until by chance, it was found that a certain type of treated ceramic had a very low friction. After many tests, materials that are very strong and coated with ceramic were used, reducing friction to below 10%. This discovery is now used in many parts of the boat, like pulleys and carts, wherever there’s movement or rubbing under heavy load,” explains Max Sirena, the Team’s Skipper and Director.

The 44mm Ti-Ceramitech™ case, is inspired by a material and process originally used in high-performance competitive environments. The innovative use of ceramic-coated materials, developed through the high-demand, high-tech sailing world of Luna Rossa, represents an example of how cutting-edge technology and materials science can elevate performance in sport environments. This process, particularly the ceramization of steel parts to significantly reduce friction, enhances the efficiency and speed of racing boats and was a source of inspiration for Panerai.

Through seven years of meticulous research and development, Panerai has filed a patent application for a titanium ceramization process through Electrolytic Plasma Oxidation able to achieve a very distinctive hue of blue. A material that can withstand high pressure, and very high thermal stress, it is an ode to the Panerai’s pursuit of creating reliable innovative instruments.

At the heart of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech™ is the automatic P.900, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The P.900 is an automatic caliber that integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions. It measures 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and is only 4.2 mm thick.

The bezel, like the case, reflects the advanced pursuits of the Maison’s manufacture. Machined titanium is ceramized and then meticulously reworked to reveal the metal beneath at strategic points, creating an eye-catching contrast of materials, punctuating the crown and its protecting lever, the edge and indexes of the bezel, the back-case, and the trapezoidal pin buckle. The blue shade resulting from the ceramization process is so distinctive that it prompted the development of a bespoke color for the accompanying straps, further accentuating the watch’s singular character. Water resistant up to 50 bar (~500 meters), these watches have been rigorously tested, subjecting them to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure they exceed Panerai’s stringent standards. The improved value is a significant milestone in a domain deeply intertwined with Panerai’s heritage that has consistently made the Maison a preferred choice.

PAM01466’s aesthetic evokes the spirit of the sea with its blue sun-brushed dial, while PAM01543 is resplendent with a white-matt grained dial, both accented with a decal of Luna Rossa and small red second hands, a subtle nod to the sailing team’s vivid identity. The date window stands at 3 o’clock while a discreet seconds subdial rests at 9 o’clock, surrounded by luminous hands and hour markers that ensure legibility in the ocean’s depths or the dark of night. The general color palette is reminiscent of the open ocean at twilight, rich and saturated, yet with a subtle gradient that gives it texture and movement. Ensuring versatility and style, the watches come with two strap options. The first bi- material strap features a striking red stripe with the words Luna Rossa in white against a blue backdrop, while the second rubber strap boasts a uniform blue tone.

The new timepieces are set to make waves starting July 2024 in the lead-up to the 2024 America’s Cup races, with PAM01466 available across all networks, and PAM01543 exclusively in boutiques.

The new references strengthen the multi-year partnership between Panerai and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, expounding on Panerai’s DNA in forging a portfolio of remarkable watches with a particular focus on instruments for aquatic adventures by combining innovation and passion-driven research for advancement.

The PAM01405 Experience Edition is the first Submersible in 45mm to feature the tourbillon complication and also the first of its kind to marry the complexity of a tourbillon with the futuristic appeal of Carbotech™, a composite material based on carbon fiber. Indeed, the watch’s case in Carbotech™ purposely echoes one of the materials most represented into the composition of Luna Rossa’s boat hull, made almost entirely of carbon fiber.

The manufacturing process of Carbotech™ involves compressing carbon fiber sheets at a precise temperature and high pressure along with PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a superior polymer that binds the composite, enhancing its strength and longevity. The resultant Carbotech™ plates boast superior mechanical properties and performance in term of strength-to-weight ratio enabling very comfortable ergonomics while being resistant to tough wear conditions. Notably lighter than titanium and ceramic, Carbotech™ excels in resistance to external forces and corrosion. Its uneven, matt black surface, which varies according to the cutting of the material, lends every singular watch a slightly different appearance.

PAM01405 features a 45mm case, scaling down from previous Submersible Tourbillons, yet maximizing wearability without compromising its impressive presence. At its core, the hand-wound P.2015/T mechanical caliber results from three years of dedicated development, with the assembly of the movement and tourbillon cage demanding eight painstaking hours of craftsmanship.

The patented tourbillon completes a horizontal rotation every 30 seconds and is a standout feature of this remarkable timepiece. It rotates on the perpendicular to the balance wheel and thus compensates for the effects of gravity on the accuracy of the timepiece. The mechanism undergoes a rigorous testing phase to guarantee optimal power reserve and chronometry, meeting Panerai’s stringent quality standards. With a 4-day power reserve, whose indicator is strategically placed on the reverse side for subtle visibility, a 24-hour GMT function and a night and day indication, this new Submersible caters to the needs of the modern traveler. The watch boasts a water-resistance up to 30 bar (~300 meters), an impressive measure for a high-complication movement. Its design intricately incorporates elements inspired by Luna Rossa, including the shape of the GMT hands that resembles the Luna Rossa sail.

PAM01405’s bezel is made of titanium, finished with a black DLC coating and adorned with white lacquer indexes. To match, an open-worked display allows a glimpse into the watch’s mechanical construction, while the red and white accents on the hands and hour markers not only facilitate legibility but also complement the distinctive Luna Rossa palette. The Super-LumiNova® coating on the flange magnifies the spectacular nature of the design in darkness and serves as an aesthetic nod to Panerai’s deep connection with the field of luminescence. Hour, minutes and bezel comes with blue and green Super- LumiNova® to facilitate reading diving time or simply legibility in poor lighting conditions.

Accompanying the watch are two straps: the first, a Luna Rossa bi-material strap that combines the resilience rubber with the aesthetics of textile, features a sporty design with a striking red accent as a nod to the partnership with the esteemed sailing team. The second rubber strap, in monochrome black, speaks to those who prefer a sleek, understated look to complement the watch’s Carbotech™ case and skeletonized movement.

“Our continuous collaboration with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team is a course that intertwines innovation with our rich legacy. This Experience edition is also our commitment to offering invaluable insights to our clientele, allowing them to not only own a timepiece of precise engineering but also the opportunity to immerse in experiences that define modern heroes,” says Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Panerai.

The origins where it all began

For over a century, the Panerai family legacy has been intertwined with precision instruments made to accompany the Italian military in their exploits. Commissioned by the Royal Italian Navy to supply high-precision instruments, it was Guido Panerai’s Radiomir – a radiumbased substance that illuminates for visibility in the dark – that began it all when it was patented in 1916.

An archival receipt shows that the Radiomir prototype was presented in 1935, and over the years, the sandwich construction has been progressively adjusted and is currently made of only two superimposed plates. Other improvements include the crown-protecting device, and a new luminous substance, the Luminor. A watch produced strictly for the military, the forces used it until the early 1970s, with its designs protected by military secrets.

Officine Panerai leaped into the commercial watch market in 1992, launching three collections of ten references in limited editions – the 44 mm Luminor and Luminor Marina watches and the 42 mm Mare Nostrum chronograph, which were presented on 10 September 1993 at the La Spezia military harbor in the presence of Duke Amedeo D’Aosta, son of Sir Aimone di Savoia, the then supreme head of the Italian diving department. Radiomir was only made public in 1997 when the Vendome Group – today Richemont Group – acquired Panerai, introducing the first Vendome special edition in sixty pieces – the PAM 21 model in a platinum version.

The acquisition advanced Panerai’s history into contemporary developments from the reopening of the historic boutique in Piazza San Giovanni to the establishment of the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel where fine Swiss watchmaking meet innovation driven by an Italian soul. With a century of innovative instruments developed for performance in response to evolving technical needs, Panerai projects into the future via research, strategic partnerships, sustainability, and empowering modern heroes.

These initiatives include eSteel™, a next-generation metal obtained from pre-consumer recycled steel scraps (up to 95%) coming from different industries, preferably from Swiss watchmaking industry, whose production significantly reduces CO2 emissions, and a partnership with the IOC-UNESCO to develop solutions with the aim of building a more sustainable, equitable society.

A restyled limited edition true to its roots

As part of the Radiomir Officine family, Panerai introduces a limited-edition timepiece featuring restyled elements that brings its aesthetics closer to its roots than ever before. The Radiomir Officine PAM01385 pays tribute to many of the iconic elements of the 1935 Radiomir prototype while incorporating contemporary technical expertise to exude a universal appeal to watch lovers.

Set in a polished steel 45mm case with the iconic cone-shaped crown, the watch features a brown matte hollowed dial with indexes and numerals only at twelve and six o’clock while the beige Super-Luminova® illuminates in green in the dark. The hour hand is segmented in half – an emblematic feature of Radiomir from its inception. Matched with a brown leather strap, the timepiece’s monotone shade highlights the brown dial, a matte color style that features for the first time within the collection. The revamped and restyled elements include the pared-down dial that features only the ‘Radiomir Panerai’ inscription without the collection’s typical OP logo, as well as a case constructed from monoblock steel. Radiomir Officine PAM01385 is powered by a hand-wound P.6000 calibre with a three-day power reserve and is water resistant up to 10 bar – a depth of about 100 metres.

The strap is also interchangeable with selections from Panerai’s wide range of colors.

The Maison conveys all these characteristics as a coveted limited-edition inspired by an archival receipt dated 24 October 1935 that testifies to the birth of the first Radiomir prototype. To commemorate the milestone, this e-commerce exclusive will be launched on 24 October 2023 in a limited 300 pieces.
