Dubai Watch Week, United Arab Emirates, 19 November 2025 – TAG Heuer marks the beginning of a new era of avant-garde watchmaking with the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1, a high-tech watch that continues the Swiss watchmaker’s rich legacy of precision chronographs inspired by motorsport, and one of the most complex watches it has ever created.

The new watch’s taut, sculpted, uncompromising form also signals the groundbreaking technology that made it possible. Its ultra-lightweight Grade-5 titanium case was made using a state-of-the-art manufacturing technique called Selective Laser Melting (SLM), an additive manufacturing process that is often applied in the aerospace, medical and automotive sectors to create precision components with complex geometries. The TAG Heuer LAB, the company’s illustrious innovation department, adapted SLM for watchmaking, enabling TAG Heuer’s designers and engineers to imagine and deliver a striking three-dimensional form that echoes the aerodynamic lines of contemporary hypercars.

The effect is that the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 appears to have been hollowed out, as if designed with speed and airflow in mind, so that it looks like it could have been conceived in a wind tunnel. Weighting just 85 grams, even with a number of solid gold components, it delivers an exceptional weight-to-performance ratio, channeling the extremely reductive design and manufacturing processes used in the parallel world of Formula 1®.

This exceptional case is paired with the most complex chronograph movement in TAG Heuer’s catalog: Calibre TH81-00, a high-frequency automatic movement that equips the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 with a rattrapante function.

This new timepiece sits at the apex of TAG Heuer’s collection of high-performance chronographs and begins a new chapter of limitless innovation. Only 30 numbered pieces will be made of this new limited edition.

Technology at the Service of Design
TAG Heuer’s philosophy has always been to produce watches that deliver functional design: a watch must serve its purpose, be easy to read and operate, and offer its wearer class-leading levels of performance and reliability. However, that philosophy could only ever take watch design so far. Traditionally, watch design has to conform to the limits of technology.

But not with avant-garde techniques, such as Selective Laser Melting.

By using SLM, TAG Heuer has been able to reverse this traditional imbalance and put technology at the service of design, derestricting the creative process and giving the company’s designers free reign to imagine designs unachievable with conventional methods. With the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1, the design brief was clear: there are no boundaries.

A paradigm shift.
So, how does it work? Typical watch cases have multiple base components, each hewn from a single block of material using CNC milling machines that remove material, adding by subtracting. By contrast, SLM is a purely additive process comparable to 3D printing.

It begins with a layer of metal powder – such as aluminium, steel or, in this case, Grade-5 titanium – which is then blasted with a high-powered laser that selectively melts and fuses sections of the powder, guided by a 3D “CAD” (Computer Aided Design) model.

Initially, as this cools and solidifies, it produces a thin sliver of material, but as the process is repeated, adding layer after layer, an object emerges, taking whatever form the designer intended. A final step follows to remove any roughness from the material and give the case its smooth, skin-like finish. In this way, the once impossible case construction of the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Second Chronograph Air 1 has become a reality.

A Watch Worthy of a Wind Tunnel
The 41mm case shape carries all the hallmarks of high-tech, cutting-edge design. Its taut lines and muscular leading edges come together in unique, fluid shapes that echo the air intakes of high-performance cars.

Combined, these then act like a complex exoskeleton that cradles a twin-layered honeycomb-motif mesh that was inspired by the latticed engine covers of hypercars, only that here serve as a movement surround. The case is in Grade-5 titanium, as are the lattices that frame the movement on the caseband, while the lattices under the bezel are laser-cut from gleaming solid 2N yellow gold, the perfect marriage of a precious metal and a high-tech, performant material. The Grade-5 titanium bezel is coated in black DLC, creating a deliberate but balanced contrast that enhances the watch’s assertive profile.

While TAG Heuer’s elite rattrapante chronograph Calibre TH81-00 whirrs quietly and reliably away inside it, the timepiece’s pristine, aerodynamic form looks torquey and expectant, as if it might explode into life at any moment with the roar of a V12 internal combustion engine.

Achieving the complex shapes of the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 is hugely labor intensive. It takes a specialist engineer around 10 times longer to program the tooling than for other TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph cases, and five times longer for those tools to manufacture it.

Finishing the watch’s high-tech look are a translucent sapphire dial that opens up the movement’s inner workings from above, chronograph pushers and a tapered crown in black-DLC-coated Grade-5 titanium, golden chronograph hands, golden-tipped hour and minute hands, golden hour markers, and front and back sapphire crystals held in place by four visible screws. The split-seconds pusher at 9 o’clock is crafted in solid 2N yellow gold and is a nod to the original left-sided crown of the TAG Heuer Monaco. The watch sits on a sporty black rubber strap topped with alcantara inserts and is fitted with a with a black-DLC-coated Grade-5 titanium buckle.

On a Higher Frequency
Inside the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 beats TAG Heuer’s Calibre TH81-00, a high-frequency automatic movement with a 65-hour power reserve that beats at 36,000vph (5 Hz), and that was developed in collaboration between TAG Heuer and the esteemed specialist movement creator Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
With major components also manufactured in Grade-5 titanium, the Calibre TH81-00 offers exceptional lightness, weighing just 30 grams without compromising on performance, stability or reliability, even in highly challenging environmental conditions. Its components are hand-finished with high-end decorations, including TAG Heuer’s signature checkered flag finish visible through the caseback of the watch made entirely in sapphire crystal.

This cutting-edge mechanical movement powers the watch’s signature complication, a rattrapante, or split-seconds chronograph, which enables the user to time two events that start at the same time but end independently of one another – the lap times of two F1 cars in the same race, for example.

A New Milestone in Watchmaking History
The story of modern mechanical watchmaking began around half a millennium ago. It took a giant leap forward in 1675, when the Dutch polymath Christian Huygens invented the modern oscillator by pairing a balance wheel and a hairspring, a hair-like spiral installed at the heart of a movement’s regulating organ. This tiny spring enabled watchmakers to control the oscillation of a watch movement’s balance wheel, delivering significant improvements not only in timekeeping precision, but also in portability. The hairspring would change the course of horological history and shape the 350 years of watchmaking that followed up until today.

It had its flaws, though. Initially made of steel, a ferrous material, it was subject to the effects of shocks, temperature changes and magnetism. Over the past 100 years and as the technological age began, material improvements would see steel replaced by special, more resistant alloys. Then, a quarter of a century ago, the watch industry embraced silicon, harnessing its low-maintenance and high-resistance properties to greatly improve the everyday performance of mechanical watches.

So, what next? The TAG Heuer LAB could have iterated on silicon hairspring technology. But the true avant- garde spirit demands a fresh approach. And so instead, the TAG Heuer LAB chose to break the mold and to push the boundaries of innovation. Today, in the 350th anniversary year of Huygens’ invention and armed with its revolutionary new hairspring technology, TAG Heuer is ready to begin a new chapter in mechanical watchmaking. The age of TH-Carbonspring has begun.

Ten Years of Relentless Effort
The process behind the TH-Carbonspring oscillator began a decade ago and it has taken nine years of dedication and unrelenting self-belief and determination to transform the intellectual concept behind it into a fully functioning reality. Along the way, there have been false dawns and existential setbacks, sobering moments that might have stopped others in their tracks.

But TAG Heuer does not quit. Rather than treating them as a dead end, and summoning extraordinary mental strength, the TAG Heuer LAB turned these setbacks into steps forward, leveraging the learnings of each near-thing to inch closer to the ultimate solution.

With every experience, TAG Heuer’s engineers were able to tweak and improve the blueprint. A turning point came in 2019, when a solution came to market. It fell short of TAG Heuer’s precision standards, but it also helped pinpoint the changes required. To perfect the system, another six demanding years of development would be needed. Through this period, the company’s engineers identified the additional manufacturing steps that would progress and refine the hairspring’s environmental resistance and long-term stability.

After thousands of hours of testing, the TAG Heuer LAB confirmed the technology was ready for industrialization and could be put into production watches with, critically, the company’s assurances of a five-year warranty firmly intact.

After almost a decade, TAG Heuer now proudly presents a hairspring that not only realizes the mission’s goals, but that also works reliably and consistently for thousands and thousands of hours, delivering exceptional mechanical timekeeping precision and performance in line with TAG Heuer’s avant-garde, winning spirit.

“Given the scale and complexity of the goal we set ourselves at the TAG Heuer LAB, the innovation process has involved countless steps and at least as many failures as successes,” said Emmanuel Dupas, TAG Heuer technical director. “It starts with intuition, then a hypothesis, then development, and then testing. Each result carries weight. Sometimes a result gives you confidence in your hypothesis.
Other times, it goes against it and your hypothesis breaks down. There are no short cuts. Only hard work, backed by a healthy level of scientific doubt and the competences of your team.”

The Carbon Spiral’s Three Performance Upgrades
The TH-Carbonspring is an exclusive technical development, patented by TAG Heuer, and it delivers three material benefits that will improve a watch’s daily performance.

First, is that the hairspring is “amagnetic”, or resistant to magnetism, a significant property in an age when the everyday devices that surround us emit strong magnetic fields. When magnetized, non-static mechanical watch components become compromised and can no longer perform at their peak, with a negative knock-on impact on precision. In extreme cases, magnetized watches will stop working altogether.

The second is that the TH-Carbonspring is resistant to shocks. Even simple actions such as closing a door or clapping can create shocks that will disrupt the smooth running and accuracy of a mechanical watch. TAG Heuer’s development counters these effects.

And the third is that carbon has lightweight properties that reduce inertia in a hairspring, thereby increasing chronometric performance.

The TAG Heuer LAB’s Finest Hour
As unique as the performance traits is the story of the TH-Carbonspring’s development and production. It was developed entirely in-house by the TAG Heuer LAB, the Swiss watchmaker’s recently renamed innovation center once known as the TAG Heuer Institute, which was previously responsible for a catalogue of ground-breaking material and mechanical innovations.

For the first watches to carry the new TH-Carbonspring technology, TAG Heuer turned to its two most emblematic designs: the TAG Heuer Monaco and the TAG Heuer Carrera. The TAG Heuer Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring and TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport TH-Carbonspring marry their own unique design codes with the story of TAG Heuer’s ground-breaking new technology.

Each has a case forged in carbon fiber, a high-tech material that TAG Heuer has been pioneering in watchmaking for many years, exercising its lightweight, highly resistant properties and motorsport connections to produce watches that combine TAG Heuer’s past and present together in seamless harmony.

Both watches also feature bespoke carbon fiber detailing, most notably in their forged carbon dials decorated with a spiral that, like a hairspring, is snail-shaped rather than a perfect circle.

Every Detail Matters
As per TAG Heuer’s design mantra, a watch must perform its primary function efficiently. For legibility, the TAG Heuer Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring has black-gold-plated hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova®, and high-contrast white lacquered hands. A black-gold small second hand, black forged carbon indexes, crown and chronograph pushers add to the watch’s high- tech stealth look.

Finishing the picture are black-gold chapter rings around the two subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock, and a black rubber strap with a fabric-like pattern. The timepiece is powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house TH20- 60 Calibre, a chronometer-certified automatic flyback chronograph with an 80-hour power reserve.

As avant-garde is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport TH-Carbonspring.
Its core characteristics mirror those of its TAG Heuer Monaco counterpart, with the addition of a forged carbon bezel with a tachymeter scale, and a switch to a sleek black rubber strap. A noteworthy anecdote that connects his personal story with that of Heuer, was his role as impromptu camera car driver, as well as stunt driver, on the Steve McQueen film “Le Mans” – in a Porsche 908 and a 917, respectively. Linge recalled, “Steve couldn’t take part in the real race himself for insurance reasons and didn’t have a car that complied with the official regulations. But he wanted the real pictures for his film – and I got them for him with the 908.”

The co-driver, and no less instrumental in Porsche’s history, was Peter Falk Porsche Director Racing Vehicle Development and engineer whose total career at Porsche AG lasted more than 30 years. He joined Porsche in 1959 and was then one of only a handful of employees in the test-driving department, by 1964 he started working in pre-series and racing support, where he got the 911 on the track, among others. Falk would later develop an in-car intercom system, but this did not yet exist in 1965. So, it took a certain pragmatism to overcome all the unexpected challenges of a grueling rally – including – how to communicate in a loud race car while reading out important directions? Peter Falk recalled the practical solution in 1965, “I spoke into a thick plastic tube that went straight into Herbert’s helmet. This speaking tube worked perfectly.” This pioneering spirit coupled with high-accuracy timekeeping equipment, exceptionally engineered automotive technology and some practical solutions, stood Herbert Linge and Peter Falk in good stead. Of 237 starters in the 1965 iteration of the Monte Carlo rally, only 22 arrived in the South of France. Linge and Falk were among them.

Their success with the 911 in such a brutal competition laid the foundation for Porsche’s lasting legacy in rallying, a history that would see the 911 dominate in subsequent years.

A pivotal moment would occur when Jack Heuer, then CEO of the family company, encountered a young, talented driver called Jo Siffert, from Fribourg in Switzerland. A deal was struck for Siffert to help to promote and support the launch of the revolutionary Calibre 11 automatic chronograph by placing a logo on his Rob Walker Lotus 49B he would race during the 1969 season and having the Heuer shield on his race suit as well as wearing a reference 1163 Autavia with white dial powered by the new movement.

This would represent the first time a watchmaker or any luxury brand outside of the traditional automotive suppliers would sponsor a driver in Formula 1 and see their logo featured on a car. It would be just the beginning of a revolutionary strategy from Jack Heuer that would redefine sports marketing around motor racing.

Working with Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren

In 1971, Ferrari was looking for a timing system for their new test track, Fiorano in Italy, the first purpose-built facility for a manufacturer. As the world’s leading producer of timekeeping equipment Heuer was a natural choice and the company developed a new device called the Le Mans Centigraph to allow the team to time their new cars and drivers at the facility.

The Le Mans Centigraph and its famous operator, Heuer employee Jean Campiche, a legend in the world of motorsport timekeeping nicknamed the “Pianist”, would travel the world with the team and provide independent timekeeping from the pit wall, helping Ferrari win the World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships in 1975 with Niki Lauda. Once other teams saw the success of the solution, including BRM, McLaren, Surtees and others, they were keen to acquire their own.

Heuer’s relationship with Ferrari would run until 1979, before continuing their team partnership with McLaren, that would go on to be one of the longest in Formula 1 history. In 1985 Heuer would be acquired by Techniques d’Avant Garde Group, which was also the owner of the McLaren Formula 1 team.

This would not only give the company its new name, TAG Heuer, but also meant that their new logo would appear on the windscreen of the MP4/2C that would win the World Drivers’ Championship with Alain Prost in 1986.

In the same year, a revolutionary new watch would be launched by the brand with an incredible fitting name: the TAG Heuer Formula 1. The model would go on to become a cultural force, with its revolutionary brightly coloured cases, straps and dials, it was incredible successful, not only confirming the incredible link of TAG Heuer to motorsport but becoming the must have watch of the era.

Another major moment would occur in 1988 when a young, up-and-coming Brazilian driver named Ayrton Senna would join McLaren. From the following season he would wear TAG Heuer watches and would continue to do so on his way to three World Drivers’ Championships.

Senna would unfortunately pass away in 1994, but his legacy with TAG Heuer would continue. The company still works with the Senna Foundation, embracing the competitive spirit and personal values that make Senna a global icon to many.

In 1992 TAG Heuer would strike a deal to become Official Timekeeping partner for Formula 1, utilising its incredible expertise to enhance and develop the precision and reliability of the timing solutions present in the sport. As well as data capture and processing, the system would also provide a new dimension to the entertainment for viewers at home, and the TAG Heuer logo that would be shared on TV screens around the world would become a defining visual of the sport.

The Modern Era

TAG Heuer would be a part of two more World Drivers’ Championship victories for McLaren in 1997 and 1998 thanks to Miki Häkkinen before the turn on the new millennium. The 2000s would be an incredible era for Formula 1 witness the transition from V10 to V8 engines, intensive rivalries between celebrated drivers, and future stars arriving in the paddock.

One of these new names to race for McLaren included the rare talent that was Lewis Hamilton, who would go on to have an incredible record in F1 and win his first World Drivers Championship in 2008 with a TAG Heuer on his wrist.

In 2015, after 30 years of successful collaboration it was decided for TAG Heuer and McLaren to pursue different paths. For the 2016, TAG Heuer would join Red Bull, a team that in a short space of time would leave an indelible mark on Formula 1.

The relationship between TAG Heuer and Oracle Red Bull Racing would result in four World Drivers’ Championship thanks to the exceptional and generation defining talent of Max Verstappen, as well as two consecutive World Constructors’ Championships. TAG Heuer’s partnership with Oracle Red Bull will continue alongside its responsibilities as Official Timekeeper for Formula 1.

A New Chapter

In recent years under Liberty Media’s ownership, Formula 1 has become one of the most culturally significant and successful sporting championships in the world, with 750 million fans worldwide, more than 90 million followers across social media and a fanbase that is becoming younger and more diverse with 42% of fans now women and 1 in 3 under 35 years old. The 2024 season saw 1.5 billion viewers tune into an epic season, where the wheel-to-wheel racing went down to the wire in an incredible battle between McLaren and Ferrari for the Constructors’ Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana’s design draws direct inspiration from the iconic Porsche 550 Spyder racecar. The skeleton dial, with its elaborate details, mirrors the wheels of the 550 Spyder, while the color scheme — silver, yellow, and black are directly drawn from the original vehicle’s livery. The yellow lacquered hand and subdial hands represent an extra added distinctive sporting touch in the watch.

The shimmery effect on the dial plate and subdials evokes the 550 Spyder’s bodywork, and the grained effect on the skeleton dial – whose shape is inspired by the 550’s racing wheels – symbolizes the asphalt texture of the road, adding a sporty and racing touch. The past collaborations with TAG Heuer, the Carrera Skipper and Carrera Dato, were homages to the history of TAG Heuer. With each of those collaborations, Hodinkee didn’t set out to reproduce the original, but rather to  move it forward. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee is no different, designed as a revival of the iconic Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer, which Heuer produced for the sporting goods retailer from the 1950s  into the 1970s. A thoroughly modern Carrera, but updated for today’s adventures with the design ethos of one of Hodinkee’s very favorite and most notable vintage Heuer references. Maintaining the color codes and  bezel aesthetic from the 1968 model, this collaboration thoroughly embraces the modern spirit of TAG Heuer. The Seafarer is a legendary watch with roots in the mid-century and is a reference that is reminiscent of a playful  and sun-soaked era in watchmaking—one in which watches were being put to the test, worn hard, and often designed and used for specific pursuits. The Seafarer evokes images of the sea, the sand, and the sun and brings to  mind the name Abercrombie & Fitch.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer × Hodinkee is a modern, robust, and exciting interpretation of a favorite Seafarer reference. The Hodinkee Limited Edition now resides in the 42mm Carrera “Glassbox” case. The domed sapphire crystal allows for the profile of a vintage plexiglass crystal while being significantly more durable and clearer – both critical factors while out on the water.

True to the color codes of the original, the black opaline dial is accented by shades of both sky and royal blue across the Regatta and Tide subdials. As the Carrera is a bezel-less case, the watch has maintained the original’s  aesthetic by moving the bezel inside the rehaut in a matching black opaline.

Looking a bit closer, the Seafarer logo was relocated to the sub-register at 6, leveraging a Carrera font inspired by the late reference’s characterful blocky type. The brands kept the feeling of the late Reference 2446C Seafarer  but made a conscious decision to look to the future of TAG Heuer with the present-day TAG Heuer and Carrera logos at 12 o’clock. Consistent with all models of the heritage Seafarer, the usual date window from the Carreras  you see today was also removed, and the watch is fitted to a black textured rubber strap, making it fit for life at sea.

This watch is truly the embodiment of everything to love about TAG Heuer – past and present.

In celebration of 1968, when Heuer introduced the Reference 2446C Seafarer, Hodinkee produced 968 pieces of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer × Hodinkee. As with the last two Hodinkee x TAG Heuer  collaborations, 125 pieces will be sold by Hodinkee in the Hodinkee Shop. The remaining pieces will be available via TAG Heuer at boutiques and retailers worldwide. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer × Hodinkee  will retail for $7,950.

The rich history of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer dates back to 1978 when Jack Heuer introduced the Heuer Reference 844, a timepiece designed for adventure enthusiasts. In 2004, it was officially named the TAG Heuer Aquaracer.

Bold, active and in tune with nature, the philosophy of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer has always been based on a perfect fusion with the elements while maintaining an innate elegance. In 2022, TAG Heuer embarked on the Solargraph technology journey with a 40mm timepiece with a carbon bezel which took the watch industry by storm, as it is powered by a solar movement, a first for the brand. The year 2023 witnessed a titanium version, expanding the Solargraph family. Now, 2024 is set to redefine elegance and functionality with the introduction of the 34mm size, a perfect complement, and a fresh addition to the Aquaracer collection, stepping towards offering smaller and more versatile timepieces.

Like its predecessors, the new 34mm size models come with the key features of the Aquaracer collection: a unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down crown, water resistance to 200 meters, luminous markings, sapphire crystal and a double safety clasp.

While retaining the historic design code, including the ergonomic riders on the bezel – a feature born in 1982 – TAG Heuer’s designers dedicated substantial effort to modernizing the ergonomic riders for these new timepieces.  This marks their first departure from rectangular or triangular forms. The new watches have been reimagined with trapezoidal shape riders, aligning with the trapezoidal indexes on the dial, providing a refined and feminine  touch to the watch.

The mother-of-pearl dial watch with both diamonds on the indexes and on the bezel keeps the enduring 12 o’clock triangle – a powerful TAG Heuer aesthetic code – with a 1.8mm diamond, thoughtfully positioned to emphasize  the triangle’s brilliance.

Intricately designed and meticulously crafted, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph series is equipped with a solar quartz movement, offering time, date, and second-hand functionalities. Completing the traditional Aquaracer quartz models, this series proudly features a date window at 3 o’clock.

Once fully charged, after less than 40 hours in the sun, the watch can run for up to 10 months  with no light exposure. If the timepiece stops ticking, it only needs exposure to any light source for ten seconds to get it started again, thanks to its ultra-efficient recharge time.

To develop this reliable and efficient movement, called Calibre TH50-01, TAG Heuer partnered with the Manufacture La Joux-Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The Calibre TH50-01 is developed and manufactured  exclusively for TAG Heuer and has a 5-year extended warranty.

The Carrera collection, an integral part of TAG Heuer’s heritage, remains at the forefront of the LVMH novelties, even beyond the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Carrera in 2023.

From Date To Dato

To fully grasp the rich history of the iconic Carrera collection and its legendary timepieces, one must embark on a journey through time. The Carrera collection, making its debut in 1963, was originally conceived without a date  complication. However, the collection’s evolution took an interesting turn just three years later when a date function was introduced at the 12 o’clock position, giving birth to the first iteration of the Dato design.

But the evolution didn’t stop there. In 1968, a significant transformation occurred as the date window relocated to the nine o’clock position. This pivotal moment marked the emergence of the iconic Dato layout, which has since become synonymous with TAG Heuer’s commitment to precision and style.

The Carrera 45 Dato, a true masterpiece, quickly gained popularity among discerning individuals for its modern aesthetics and exceptional legibility. Its dial design, characterized by stark black and white contrasts, represented Jack Heuer’s philosophy of prioritizing readability. The watch boasted a 17-jeweled lever movement, a water-resistant case, a reinforced mainspring, and durable glass. With features like Incabloc shock absorbers, an all-steel case, a 1/5-second stopwatch, and the ability to stop and restart the recorder without resetting, it offered incomparable functionality without compromising its timeless design.

Over time, the distinctive mono subdial configuration of the Dato earned it the affectionate nickname “Cyclop” and solidified its status as a cherished collector’s piece. This enduring appreciation eventually led to a significant  collaboration with Hodinkee, suggesting the Dato as an ideal candidate for a re-edition. The fruit of this partnership materialized in 2021, breathing new life into the Dato model with subtle refinements, such as transitioning  from a 45-minute recorder to a 30-minute recorder and changing the flange color from white to black.

In 2023, TAG Heuer introduced three notable timepieces in the Carrera collection: the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph in blue, featuring a date at 6 o’clock, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph in black, with a date at 12  o’clock and the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon in blue. And now, in 2024, TAG Heuer proudly presents green monochrome variant, with a date at 9 o’clock, impeccably enhancing this series. Continuing the  heritage of the Dato configuration, the latest addition is a testament to TAG Heuer’s commitment to preserving its rich legacy while embracing modernity.

A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph masterfully combines heritage and modernity. While retaining the iconic Dato vintage look, it has notable technical enhancements including improved ergonomics on the case, a gracefully curved flange, and a dial with circular brushed finishing.

The watch, crafted from steel, showcases rhodiumplated indexes and hands, complemented by a teal green azuré mono subdial at the three o’clock position.

The timepiece boasts a domed sapphire Glassbox crystal. It is called “Glassbox” for its domed, curved, crystal glass, paying homage to similarly domed hesalite crystal designs from the 1970s. Reengineered to have a curve that  flows seamlessly over the flange, it runs along the edge of the dial, blending into the case. This innovative design offers an easy reading of the indications on the dial via the front glass.

The watch features an open caseback that showcases TAG Heuer’s in-house movement Heuer 02 listed as TH20-07, with an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Additional refinements, like the bidirectional automatic winding  mechanism, enrich this remarkable timepiece. Notable characteristics of the movement include a fiveyear extended warranty, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to durability and reliability. It also contains a distinctive  shield-shaped rotor, a symbol synonymous with TAG Heuer.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph comes on high-end black alligator leather strap adding a touch of luxury, with a stainless-steel folding clasp.

A Tourbillon in Green

To complete the release, TAG Heuer unveils the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon — a captivating addition to the Carrera collection – in an elegant teal green circular brushed dial, creating a sophisticated statement  piece.

At its heart, the watch features a tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock, encased within a glass frame. The dial of the 42mm watch testifies the intricate craftsmanship of TAG Heuer, showcasing a tourbillon. First perfected more than 200 years ago, a tourbillon is a continuously rotating cage that surrounds the escapement and is designed to counteract the influences of gravity on the accuracy of a mechanical movement. Even today, few watchmakers have mastered its complex form. TAG Heuer is among an elite group of manufacturers to have done so.

Remaining true to the Carrera’s heritage, the watch retains the iconic Glassbox design. The curved sapphire crystal provides a panoramic view of the tourbillon from various angles, enhancing the overall readability and  aesthetic appeal. The teal green flange, rhodium-plated applied indexes, and deep azuré subdials, surrounded by green rings, further contribute to the watch’s readability and elegance.

Luxury is in the details, with powdered silver markings on the logo and the word “SWISS” and “CARRERA” elevating the watch’s appearance to a sophisticated level.

Powering this exceptional timepiece is the Heuer 02 – TH20-09 – crafted by TAG Heuer Movements Director Carole Forestier-Kasapi and the Swiss watchmaker’s technical teams. This movement ensures bidirectional  automatic winding mechanism, a significant efficiency and accuracy, and as well as a recognized level of finishing. The watch comes with a five-year warranty.

The attention to design extends to the black alligator leather strap, fastened by a finely brushed, polished steel folding clasp with double safety push-buttons, adorned with the iconic TAG Heuer shield – a timepiece that  perfectly blends tradition, innovation, and elegance.

DUBAI, 9^th February 2017 – In line with one of the philosophies at the heart of its brand’s key positioning, Swiss Watchmaker TAG Heuer announced its collaboration with AWG Founder Hassan Akhras at a breakfast event at Pascal Tepper in Dubai Media City.

The announcement came as no surprise seeing as Hassan Akhras is not only a leading figure and influencer on the city’s watch scene but has also decided to take on a new challenge by competing in IronMan 2018, which comprises of cycling, running and swimming – three sporting disciplines that TAG Heuer is strongly involved with.  TAG Heuer has a strong link with cycling and this became evident after it unveiled its partnership with the BMC Racing Team last year and bore the title of Official Timekeeper of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi tour. The brand also has a long-standing association with prestigious marathons including the New York City Marathon, the Chicago Marathon and the Paris Marathon for which it has been the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. Swimming too is relevant to the brand and its Aquaracer collection is perfectly suited to the sport.

TAG Heuer’s partnership with Hassan Akhras will mainly focus on his preparation in the build-up to the much-awaited event next year, while he retains his primary job of watch blogger. The brand has come to be known with icons who all reflect the common values of mental strength, a disruptive attitude and ambition. Hassan Akhras, is in this sense, a perfect fit as his year of training will be replete with its fair share of trials and extreme #DontCrackUnderPressure moments that will test the boundaries of his endurance.
