HYT launches the S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa”

HYT is proud to reveal its first timepiece released in collaboration with the renowned artist, Fally Ipupa. The S1 5N Gold Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” is limited to 8 pieces worldwide only and will bear the signature of the artist on the back case.

In a stunning fusion of high horology and cultural artistry, HYT Watches proudly announces the launch of its first collaborative timepiece with internationally acclaimed artist Fally Ipupa. Following the recent announcement in January 2025, this bold creation marks the beginning of a dynamic partnership between the avant-garde Swiss watchmaker and the Congolese music icon, renowned for his boundary-pushing style and global influence.

The new timepiece, named S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa”, is a celebration of kinetic energy, rhythm, and modern elegance. It merges HYT’s signature fluidic technology with Fally Ipupa’s distinctive aesthetic, resulting in a watch that resonates with collectors and fans alike. Crafted in a strictly limited run of 8 pieces, the model features iconic elements from the newly released S1 Series such as our open-worked dial, our newly ergonomic case and our interchangeable straps system.

“Fally represents movement, culture, and fearless expression – all values we share at HYT,” said Vahe Vartzbed, CEO of HYT Watches. “This timepiece is more than a watch – it’s a symbol of how precision and passion can co-exist in extraordinary form.”

Fally Ipupa, whose career has redefined African music on the global stage, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “This project allowed me to explore time in a new way. HYT’s innovative vision aligns perfectly with the rhythm of my own creative journey. Together, we’ve created something timeless.”

The S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” confidently presents itself with an ergonomic 45mm 5N gold and titanium black DLC case defined by its chiseled solid looks and softened by a subtle satin finish. The hydromechanical caliber 501-CM takes center stage on the new S1’s open-worked dial. Its hypnotic presence won’t allow you to look away, although the pink gold shimmer of the angular case is an attention seeker just the same.

Similarly to the previous limited edition of the S1 5N Gold Titanium, this version will only be available in eight watches. It mixes and matches an introverted, softly shimmering pink gold and subtle black colorway with edgy, angular lines and an outrageously exuberant high-tech mechanical movement on display for all to see. The watch is a striking forerunner of an upcoming sports watch collection, and it tells of HYT’s strong ambitions for the future. The watch is also a statement. The new timepiece showcases HYT’s enduring capabilities to combine fine craftsmanship, technological innovations, and progressive design while ensuring optimum wrist comfort.
The open-worked design clearly shows the watch’s finely finished “power plant” and emphasizes the S1’s sporty, high-performance nature. As expected from an HYT creation, the attention to detail is phenomenal. The flange is executed in a deep black hue and shows a miniature honeycomb structure, which also holds the rhodium plated Arabic numerals that mark the hours. This is entirely in keeping with the performance sports theme.

The S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” is an excellent example of technical uniqueness and boundary-pushing design. Important aspect for future owners: this watch is a joy to wear. It combines a well-proportioned, ergonomically shaped case with a clever, ergonomic strap design. The 5N gold and black-coated titanium case measures 45.30 × 17.20mm. The case, matched to an angularly positioned strap, ensures a stable and comfortable position on almost any wrist. And speaking of straps, the S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” comes with a Pure Black Velcro strap with a loop buckle and a pin buckle-equipped Pure Black rubber strap. Both blend in perfectly with the lines of the case and offer a seamlessly integrated, streamlined look. By the way, the ingenious quick-release, strap-change system makes changing between them a matter of seconds. As expected from a sports watch, the S1 Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” is water-resistant to 50 meters.

With its two small bellows and finely sandblasted and satin-finished movement parts, the movement’s unique looks might be disruptive even after 13 years – the first hydromechanical HYT creation burst onto the watch scene in 2012. However, the caliber 501-CM’s performance also inspires confidence. Years of development and fine-tuning have resulted in a highly reliable movement. The caliber 501-CM has no equal and combines traditional and contemporary qualities most fascinatingly. The movement’s traditional characteristics include a Haute Horlogerie level finishing of all the individual components and a mainspring you need to wind by turning the 5N gold crown between 2 and 3 o’clock. When you do, the mainspring’s power will set the central minutes hand in motion, and the small seconds in a sub dial between 9 and 10 o’clock. You will also see the small hand of the power reserve indicator move, which is in line with the crown. The three different satin-brushed PVD 5N gold hands have a powerful contemporary look and were treated to a touch of white SLN to ensure optimum readability in dark conditions.

The mechanical movement also transfers energy to animate the display of retrograde fluidic hours. Although the ground-breaking, 352-part caliber with a beat rate of 28,000 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and a power reserve of 72 hours is a fully evolved, fool-proof movement, it’s also a one-of-a-kind. Its otherworldly looks never cease to amaze, and so does the technology. For instance, the prominently placed pair of small bellows are made of an alloy with walls just one-quarter the thickness of a human hair that is 10,000 times more watertight than a traditional dive watch. The uniqueness of the two bellows is only rivaled by the very fine glass capillary tube connecting them. In the S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” black fluid marks the hours and perfectly matches the watch’s sporty chic attire.

The open-worked S1 5N Gold Titanium Limited Edition “Fally Ipupa” is an idiosyncratic sports watch with an open-worked design that reveals its hydromechanical ingenuity and power and accentuates its intricate design. Every S1 Series represents ground-breaking watchmaking fueled by creative inventions and uncompromising innovation that’s astonishingly comfortable on the wrist.

The foundations of HYT’s fluidic time display mechanism
HYT watches blend science, technology (developed by PRECIFLEX SA), haute horlogerie, and design. Inspired by the workings of clepsydras that kept time for the pharaohs, HYT timepieces are built on two reservoirs made of highly flexible alloy bellows, located at 6 o’clock and connected to each end of a glass capillary tube. One reservoir contains a colored liquid, while the other holds a transparent one. Driven by the watch movement, the first reservoir compresses while the other expands, causing the liquids to move within the capillary. The two liquids are immiscible (do not mix), with the molecular repulsion force keeping them separate, creating a visible demarcation between the two: the meniscus.

As the hours pass, the liquid moves, and with it the demarcation line that graphically indicates the time along the dial’s periphery. Throughout the day, the tube fills over twelve hours with the colored liquid, and when it reaches the end of the capillary, it returns to its initial position in a retrograde motion, beginning a new twelve-hour cycle.
Protected by seven patents, this invention was honored with the Innovation Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2012. It is a technical innovation that presides over all aspects of the HYT design and its three-dimensional architecture.
