The House of Harry Winston unveils three Ocean timepieces with a new dial configuration. Still espousing the codes of the Ocean collection, the latest models offer a beguiling asymmetrical layout for the phases of the moon, the time, and the date. Embellished with baguette-cut gemstones matching the dial color, the new Ocean Date Moon Phase models are destined to become classics.
With a name that conjures nautical adventures, the Ocean collection is the House of Harry Winston’s luxury sports timepiece. Designed for everyday wear, Ocean models combine resilience and sophisticated contemporary design in equal measure.
CHANGING COURSE
Always open to staging complications in novel ways, the Ocean Date Moon Phase models are equipped with an asymmetric layout composed of three counters providing the time, date, and moon phase functions.
Offered in three new colorways – pristine white lacquer, scintillating blue ruthenium crystals or green sunray with a satin-brushed finish – the dial of the Ocean Biretrograde Automatic plays with the conventional display of time.
Floating from its customary position in the northern hemisphere of the dial, the hour and minutes counter is anchored in a more easterly position at 2 o’clock. Baguette-cut diamonds flank and illuminate the polished gold bands marking the hours, while the signature Harry Winston emerald-cut diamond graces the dial at noon.
The date ring intersects the hours and minutes counter to form a perfect figure eight, the symbol of infinity. Gliding gracefully above the two counters, the date ring uses claw-set diamonds to mark the even numbers of a month. Last but by no means least, the smaller diamond-set ring for the moon phases appears at 5 o’clock as the handmade cabochon 18K yellow gold moon performs its cycle against a dark blue sky.
BOLD OCEAN CASE
The fluid asymmetry of the functions represented on the deck finds an echo in the distinctive asymmetrical case of the Ocean family. Marked by two arch-shaped crown guards that emulate the entrance of Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon, the cases of these 42mm white and rose gold models – case flanks included – are impeccably set with 67 baguette-cut gemstones matching the dial color. The white lacquer dial is accompanied by fiery white baguette-cut diamonds, the blue ruthenium crystals model is set with blue sapphires, and the green version glows with the light of green emeralds. Proving that beauty and functionality are perfectly compatible, the case is water-resistant to 100 meters.
THE ART OF MECHANICAL WATCHMAKING
Like a sailboat that relies on the power of the wind to navigate, the practicality of an automatic movement that harnesses energy from the natural motions of the wrist is unbeatable, making it a perfect ally for everyday wear. With a generous power reserve of 68 hours, the time and date can be set on the crown, and the moon phases can be adjusted with a corrector hidden on the case’s side.
Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the movement is beautifully decorated with circular Côtes de Genève, rhodium plating and circular graining. To improve stability, performance and precision over the long term, the balance spring is made of silicon, a cutting-edge material resilient to magnetic and thermal fluctuations. In a final flourish of hallmark Harry Winston opulence, the 18K white gold rotor of the white lacquer model sparkles with 26 baguette-cut diamonds; the rotor of the dial with blue ruthenium crystals is set with 26 baguette-cut sapphires; and the 18K rose gold rotor of the green version features 26 baguette-cut emeralds.
The three Ocean Date Moon Phase Baguette Automatic 42mm models are presented on refined alligator leather straps matching the dial color with a gold ardillon buckle sparkling with 24 baguette-cut diamonds. Each colorway is a limited edition of 25 pieces.
