Today, we are sharing with you Arab Watch Club’s latest project with Cartier and one that is very dear to our heart.
It has been almost 5 years since we first approached Cartier with our idea of creating a club special order and opened the pandora’s box for many more clubs to do the same.
In 2023, we have worked together with Cartier on an edition from the Privee family and one that could not be more classier than the Asymetrique – The new Tank Asymetrique for AWC has several elements and details that position it as a very unique piece in the watch world!
Al Khawarzimi Numerals
IF you haven’t read about Al Khawarizmi, now is a good time to do it! He is a Muslim MAthematician who is the father of Algebra and the first one to bring the Arabic-Hindu numerals to the Western World. These numerals now considered Western numerals are actually the original Arabic numerals at that time and they were designed by him in a very smart and particular way.
Look closer at each number and how it is written… it is all in the ANGLES!!! Every number corresponds to the total of angles in its own shape.
We adopted these numerals that have never been used before in Horology and decided to make them the basis for our Edition.
In order to keep the right spacing on the dial and also not overcharge it, we opted to include even numbers only – the result was mesmerising.
The case and dial
There are only 2 cases available for this watch : Yellow Gold or Platinum, each offers a very distinct contrast with the Green dials.
The dial of the watch is a combination of British Green color on a Rosette guillochee that is very particular to Cartier with a seconds chemin de fer around the inner dial bringing back some vintage hints to the overall design.
The movement used is the Manufacture Manual Calibre 1917 MC with a closed case back and special engraving of the club and each owner’s name on it.
Very few pieces will be produced – this edition is the most limited ever produced from this model and we wanted to keep it very exclusive even with the club itself.
